This is a critical moment in the history of the global climate movement: the need for our advocacy has never been clearer as the muchneeded transition away from fossil fuels encounters powerful opposition and hardwon historic victories are being overturned all in the middle of this decisive decade.
350 is ready to meet this moment with broadbased people power from all across the globe and we are clearsighted about the role to be played by North America. Given the scope and scale of the opportunity as well as in acknowledgement of the continents role as a historic polluter that continues to wield disproportionate power over global climate policy we need a passionate and visionary North America Director to lead the next phase of 350.orgs work in this politicallyvolatile/sensitive geography.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for the US and Canada Program staff in the implementation of our global strategy of ending fossil fuels and scaling up just energy solutions
- Linemanage senior staff in the US and Canada program teams and ensure a healthy and highfunctioning team culture that enables highfunctioning regional performance and is able to respond to realtime opportunities and challenges. Responsible for development of benchmarks of progress for function culture and capacity.
- Represent 350 in partner and movement spaces with humility and strategy vision
- Support facilitation and coordination of the US and Canada Teams to build and strengthen a multiracial team responsible for organizing and mobilizing people across the United States and Canada
- Provide support and resources to improve operational security efficiency and effectiveness and address regional needs.
- Lead the development and implementation of NA regional policies practices tools systems and guidelines(e.g. performance evaluations onboarding training and tools and work plans) that ensure a highly effective goaloriented equitable organization designed to support 350 in achieving its mission and strategic steer.
- Represent 350 US management in Union negotiations
- Ensure that each country team is empowered within 350 aligned integrated and working toward the mission a shared vision of success and related goals.
- As a member of the Global Strategy Council collaborate with the other members to set and communicate 350.orgs overall strategic and operational direction and ensure alignment across the organization. Translate 350.orgs strategic goals and Theory of Change into North America team goals with clear and measurable key performance indicators.
- Participate in building strategic alignment with regional team leaders on regional national and local campaigns organizing mobilization and movement support and ensuring cohesion and alignment with 350.orgs overall strategy theory or change and periodic goals.
- Along with the other members of the North America leadership teams lead the development and implementation of US and Canada team culture and program vision that embodies accountability and centers impact for grassroots climate justice organizations allies partners and coalitions to enhance collective power and to achieve shared goals.
- Lead and ensure the operationalization of justice equity diversity and inclusion into program planning and benchmarks.
- Partner with regional leadership to establish performance measures monitor results and evaluate the effectiveness of the organizations regional programs.
- Oversee the creation and management of the North America annual budgets.
- Actively support Fundraising efforts in Canada and the US.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 10 years of experience in development work climate justice social justice human rights or related work
- At least 5 years of experience in senior management or leadership roles with experience
- A highly collaborative and facilitative approach to leadership.
- A strong commitment to justice issues both regionally and globally and commitment to ending the era of fossil fuels and scale up of energy solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to cultivate and establish partnerships and trust with colleagues movement partners and donors.
- Experience in security management and risk assessments.
- A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to justice equity diversity and inclusion (JEDI) antiracism or antioppression work. Ability to collaborate across differences and work effectively with people from diverse cultural racial ethnic class age gender and sexual orientation backgrounds.
- Strong ability to think strategically and translate overarching strategies into team goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to translate complex data into clear and simple messages for a wide range of audiences.
- Ability to manage complex projects and work across departments.
- Ability to prioritize and focus effectively across a wide range of responsibilities.
- Comfort and ease working in a fastpaced environment
Position Type: Fulltime

Compensation: This position falls under 350.orgs Salary Grade 4.2 with compensation equivalent to USD 119000 in the US and CAD 142657 in Canada.
Location:This is a remote position open to candidates based in the United States and Canada.
