The LA Conservation Corps (the Corps) is a private nonprofit organization that has been helping atrisk young people develop themselves since 1986. To date more than 20000 young people have participated in the Corps classes and service projects learning new skills while contributing to the quality of life for all of us in the greater Los Angeles area.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Education & Training Coordinator the Career Services Coordinator provides job matching and placement services to Corpsmember participants who require assistance in conducting their own job search. The Career Services Coordinator is responsible for building partnerships with employers to create job opportunities for Corpsmembers and plays a handson role with Corpsmembers and employers providing support and monitoring of placements to ensure job retention.

Essential Functions

Maintain daytoday relationships with bridge employers (those willing to provide additional support to our transitioning Corpsmembers) to ensure success job placement outcomes

Responsible for providing Corpsmembers with innovative ways to explore career options.

Manage list of open jobs and interest of Corpsmembers to match transitioning Corpsmembers with job opportunities

Manage internship opportunities & placements.

Assist in developing promotional materials as well as market the Corps services to the business community.

Plan and organize job fairs information sessions and employer presentations on a regular basis.

Regularly attend community job fairs information sessions and events.

Develop and maintain a diverse job bank keeping all information current and well organized.

Market the Corps services to employers and create job trials job shadowing mentorship and job placement opportunities.

Facilitate regular group workshops on employment preparation job maintenance and life skills.

Ensure all case notes and documentation for each Corpsmember file are completed accurate and kept up to date.

Complete monthly statistical reports for the purpose of tracking and monitoring program outcomes.

Monitor and maintain regular contact with employers to encourage successful Corpsmember job retention.

Conduct regular evaluations with all Corpsmembers and employers to ensure excellent customer service.

Develop mentorship opportunities for youth.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

Intermediate level of computer skills (Microsoft Office environment) including Excel Word PowerPoint software and Internet research.

Education/Experience

Bachelors degree (from an accredited institution) in a related field required and/or equivalent work experience.

A minimum of two 2 years of experience in job development preferably with atrisk young adults and/or community organizations/groups required.

Previous experience working in the nonprofit or public sector preferred.

Knowledge of Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) or other Department of Labor youth programs and case management and reporting requirements.

Previous experience working with the City of LAs YouthSource and Adult WorkSource system

Other Requirements

Attend events and meetings in the community to support the program. This can involve working Saturdays or Sundays as needed.

California Class C Drivers License validation of driving record for commercial policy insurability per the requirements of the state of California.

Regular use of private vehicle for company purposes; validation of driving record and approval of commercial policy insurability is required in conjunction with proof of personal minimum liability insurance coverage per the requirements of the State of California. Mileage will be reimbursed at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) standard mileage rate.

Pass a postoffer drug/alcohol screen test before commencing employment (required to submit for the drug/alcohol screening at a company designated facility)

Pass a postoffer Live Scan (fingerprint/background clearanceDepartment of Justice) before commencing employment.

Reference checks will be conducted. Employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable references.

Salary and Benefits

$22.29 $27.44/hour (reflects the entire pay range); a starting wage higher than $22.29per hour is based on a level of experience and education that exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale (salary range).

Medical Dental Vision Benefits with 93 employer coverage of costs for employee and 79 coverage for additional family members.

3 weeks of vacation accrued per year; 11 paid Holidays and 80 hours of sick time accrued per year.

401k retirement plan with match of up to 3.
