Overall Responsibility:
This is an advanced level technical work supporting higher level inspectors and engineers in roadway and bridge construction and other functional areas such as construction acceptance inspection verification of materials and testing. Involves a significant amount of decision making use of judgement and may include providing direction to subordinates or contractors. |
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Technical proficiency that exceeds the requirements of an Inspector Aide.
- Must effectively communicate with SEI Staff Client GDOT Staff and contractors on jobsites.
- Must demonstrate a desire and behavior that projects harmony with diverse clients peers contractors and management.
- If required nights and weekend work may need to play a role to guarantee schedule compliance for the Client.
- Review plans to verify contractors are performing work safely and in accordance with the project plans and specifications to its established standards per clients expectations.
- Must efficiently know how to inspect and measure materials to ensure compliance with plans specifications and special provisions for the construction contract.
- Complete thorough daily notes in field books.
- Must be able to read and interpret plans schedules specifications quantities and shop drawings.
- Proficient technical writing skills
- Able to perform standard mathematical calculations.
- Perform a wide variety of standardized and nonstandardized tests keep up with GDOT Skills Testing as well as WECS 10Hour OSHA and GSWCC Level 1A or 1B card.
- Efficiently utilize all SEI resources to complete the project.
- Manage clients expectations in terms of schedule scope and budget.
- Effectively coordinate with various internal SEI staff and departments to meet projects goals.

Experience Proficiencies Skills and Certifications:
4year college degree. Level 1A or higher GSWCC 10Hour OSHA Field Concrete Technician (GDOT Office of Materials and Testing) Worksite Erosion Control Certification (WECS Card through GDOT) GDOT Skills Engineering Tests Levels 13. These are not requirements but if placed on a GDOT project you will need to obtain these within the first 6 months of employment. Strong Math Skills HS Diploma or higher. MS Word and Excel skills is a plus. |
