Job Description

The New Business Intake Conflicts Attorney is integral to ensuring the firm adheres to ethical standards and compliance with conflict of interest rules. This position involves managing and resolving conflicts of interest conducting client research and supporting the firms business intake processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the firms new business intake process evaluating potential clients and matters thoroughly.
  • Conduct detailed conflicts of interest analyses for new business using internal and external databases.
  • Draft and implement conflicts waivers and ethical walls as necessary to resolve conflicts of interest.
  • Advise attorneys and staff on compliance with the Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Provide guidance and training on the firms conflicts and business intake policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the afterhours weekend and holiday oncall rotation for emergency conflicts checks and inquiries.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with firm operations policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of professional responsibility rules and ethical judgment.
  • Excellent analytical research and communication skills with a detailoriented approach to problemsolving.
  • Ability to manage complex information and make informed swift decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate in a teamoriented environment.
  • Proficiency in PC and Windows applications with a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to adjust work schedule and travel as needed.

Education & Experience:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the Bar.
  • 35 years of relevant experience in conflicts management ethical compliance or a related field in a large law firm.
