Description

CLOSING DATE: April 4 2025

POSITION: Chief of Staff

SALARY: $36.81$42.67 per hour DOE

REPORTS TO: Centralized Services Director

LOCATION: Colville Business Council;Nespelem Washington

Basic Functions:Plans organizes and coordinates the activities and services of the Chairman and in coordination with the executive office functions including external communications publications research and program/policy implementation. Carries out duties assigned by the Chairmans office both internally and externally and participates in carrying out the strategic initiatives of the Colville Tribes.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

  • The position typically requires an AA degree from an accredited college or university in Business Management Accounting Human Resources Organizational Development Office Technology Public Relations or a related field. ORWork experience with progressively responsible experience and duties that reflect ability to perform the duties of this position may substitute years of education.

  • Requires a valid Drivers License and must maintain throughout employment.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires indepth knowledge of the mission functions policies rules regulations and objectives of Colville Tribes government.
  • Requires professionallevel knowledge of the strategies techniques and principles of public relations and external communications.
  • Requires working knowledge of the municipal processes and authorities and strategic management best practices.
  • Requires working knowledge of rules governing public meetings.
  • Requires indepth knowledge of those activities associated with executive office staff administration and confidential record keeping.
  • Requires advanced professionallevel knowledge of and skill at using proper English usage grammar spelling and punctuation.
  • Requires welldeveloped knowledge of and skill at using a computer with common office productivity applications and specialized programs for municipal government.
  • Requires sufficient math skills to monitor large complex budgets and understand reports containing financial and demographic information.
  • Requires advanced human relations skills to prepare and make public presentations facilitate group processes resolve problems and confrontations and convey technical or policy details to general audiences.
  • Requires the ability to independently perform all of the duties of the position.
  • Requires the ability to supervise and coordinate complex office and administrative support functions.
  • Requires the ability to interpret and prepare complex policies.
  • Requires the ability to learn interpret explain and apply knowledge of Colville Tribes and department organization operations programs functions and special industry terminology.
  • Requires the ability to maintain confidential data and information for Chairman.
  • Requires the ability to conduct research of public policy events and of archives.
  • Requires the ability to plan organize prioritize delegate and review work in order to meet schedules and timelines.
  • Requires the ability to analyze situations and implement the appropriate actions or response.
  • Requires the ability to write professional reports presentations and correspondence.
  • Requires the ability to communicate with a wide range of contacts within and outside the organization with professionalism and courtesy and in a manner that reflects positively on the Colville Tribes.
  • Must be able to perform work of a sedentary nature.
  • Requires ambulatory ability to sit for extended periods of time and relocate to multiple locations.
  • Requires the ability to keyboard at an advanced rate and to take recollections of meetings.
  • Requires sufficient visual acuity to recognize letters and numbers and notice nonverbal behavior.
  • Requires auditory ability to hear and respond to inperson and phone conversations and give presentations to large audiences.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to preemployment drug testing. In addition this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and postaccident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position you must possess and maintain avalid Washington State drivers license and be eligible for the Tribes Vehicle Insurance. In addition this position may be subject to preemployment background clearances. If applicable these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
