We have multiple openings for Director of Engineering positions across different focus areas including Growth and Integration and Admin & Developer Tools. This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.
What were looking for:
- Experience leading large teams of managers and software engineers 30 delivering crossfunctional projects. You should have a track record of building highperforming engineering teams from the ground up and mentoring leaders across both technical and management tracks.
- A passion for aligning engineering initiatives with business goals. Youll guide teams working on missioncritical projects from core product development to enterprise integrations and growth strategies with a focus on scaling impactful solutions.
- Experience working with peers in engineering product design and other departments to drive crossfunctional alignment. Youll help prioritize initiatives resolve dependencies and drive consensus across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- A strong foundation as a handson software engineer with experience in building resilient reliable software. Your background should enable you to contribute to technical discussions and empower your teams to make tough decisions on their own. Familiarity with enterprisegrade solutions like APIs SDKs SSO multitenancy and developer tools is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will need to drive discussions with both technical and nontechnical audiences and serve as a spokesperson for the team.
- A datadriven leader who thrives on identifying opportunities experimenting with new ideas and scaling solutions that align with 1Passwords broader goals. Whether its optimizing product adoption or building out new tools for enterprise customers you bring a focus on continuous improvement.

- Support and set the strategic direction for teams delivering software that contributes to our mission. Youll collaborate with senior leaders to ensure your teams objectives align with the companys longterm goals.
- Grow technical contributors and managers to reach their full potential. Recruit and retain top talent in a fastgrowing environment partnering with the Talent team to build highperforming engineering teams.
- Whether youre driving product growth improving user adoption scaling integrations or enhancing developer tools youll own the delivery of highimpact projects that matter to our customers.
- Work closely with product design and other teams to create an engaging technical vision for your area. Youll resolve conflicts drive alignment and ensure your teams work supports broader company objectives.
- Operate autonomously prioritize effectively and make judgment calls on complex multiteam initiatives. Your ability to scope and lead projects will be key to your success.
USAbased roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $255000 USD and $345000 USD plus immediate participation in 1Passwords benefits program (health dental 401k and many others) utilization of our generous paid time off an equity grant and where applicable participation in our incentive programs.
Canadabased roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $241000 CAD and $325000 CAD plus immediate participation in 1Passwords generous benefits program (health dental RRSP and many others) utilization of our generous paid time off an equity grant and where applicable participation in our incentive programs.
At 1Password we approach each individuals compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set.

While we are a remotefirst company occasional travel for inperson engagement will be a part of this role. Frequency will depend on role and responsibilities and may include but is not limited to annual departmentwide offsites team meetings and customer/industry events. These events will typically be held in varying locations across Canada and the US.
