Job Description

Overview

Emory University Hospital (EUH) Surgical Specialties Team is seeking to hire Anesthetists Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) to become a vital part of Emory Healthcares integrated academic healthcare system.

Work Hours/Schedule:

  • Full Time; Rotating schedule with call.
  • Schedule could be 34 days per week with combinations of 81012hour and longer shifts if desired.

Experience:

  • General and/or Transplant Anesthesia experience highly preferred.

Emory University Hospital (EUH) covers a wide range of surgical cases including Vascular procedures (open and endovascular) Surgical Oncology Colorectal Urology Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery Reconstructive Plastic Care and General Abdominal procedures. EUH cares for a large volume of advanced Neurosurgical procedures including Craniotomy for AneurysmsTumors and Arteriovenous Malformations. Additionally EUH has a large functional Neurosurgical population where we partner with our Neurosurgical colleagues to provide anesthetics for Deep Brain Stimulation involvingimplanting electrodes for seizure and Parkinsons management. EUH provides care for emergency stroke patients in a highvolume Stroke Program and also for patients undergoing revolutionary Interventional Radiology procedures. EUH alsosupports a busy procedural GI and Interventional Pulmonary team. EUH also staffs one of the busiest and most successful Liver Transplant Programs in the US.

At EUH all Anesthetists are expected to supervise Student Anesthetists as well as have the potential opportunity to participate in clinical research.

At all Emory Healthcare sites our CAAs CRNAs and MDs collaborate within the Anesthesia Care Team model ensuring the highest level of quality and safety for our patients.

Description

  • Under the direction of an Anesthesiologist assists in the administration of general and regional anesthesia to surgical and nonsurgical procedure patients.
  • Performs initial acute cardiopulmonary resuscitation in lifethreatening situations or as directed by a physician; Instructs others in principles and practices of anesthesia respiratory care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as directed by the Anesthesiologist.
  • Interprets and records patients physiological and pharmacological status assists the Anesthesiologist in gathering routine preop data.
  • Assists in research projects as carried out by an Anesthesiologist.
  • Establishes multiparameter monitoring of patient prior to during and after anesthesia or in other acute care situations including ECG direct arterial pressure central venous pressure arterial blood gas determinations hematocrits and routine measurement of temperature respiration blood pressure and heart rate.
  • Establishes other monitoring as may be developed for anesthesia and intensive care use. Manages pre and postanesthetic care including ventilator management/support other respiratory care parameters as assigned/directed by an Anesthesiologist.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) Masters Degree program.
  • Licensed or eligible to practice in the State of Georgia.
  • Certified by National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) or National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA).
  • Must maintain biannual certification through the submission of Continuing Medical Education credits (CMEs).
  • BLS from American Heart Association (AHA) required. ACLS (AHA) may be required for some locations and/or services.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium):

2050 lbs; 033 of the work day (occasionally); 1125 lbs 3466 of the workday (frequently); 0110 lbs 67100 of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking Occasional sitting Close eye work (computers typing reading writing) Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Bloodborne pathogen exposure Biohazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock Floor Surfaces Hot/Cold Temperatures Indoor/Outdoor conditions Latex Lighting Patient care/handling injuries Radiation shift work Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment including respirators environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
