Position Overview
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) you will play a pivotal role in supporting individuals with disabilities to lead meaningful lives within their communities. You will provide direct care and assistance to individuals in various settings fostering their independence promoting their wellbeing and enhancing their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide personalized support and assistance to individuals with daily living activities including personal hygiene meal preparation medication management and household tasks.
2. Foster positive relationships with individuals families and guardians promoting effective communication and collaboration to meet the individuals needs and goals.
3. Implement personcentered plans and goals ensuring the individuals preference choices and rights are respected and upheld.
4. Facilitate community integration and participation in recreational social and vocational activities promoting independence and inclusion.
5. Monitor and document individual progress behaviors and any significant changes maintaining accurate records and reports as required.
6. Respond effectively to emergencies following established protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of individuals.
7. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including healthcare professionals therapists and case managers to coordinate comprehensive care and support services.
8. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of developmental disabilities.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required; we provide comprehensive training and support for new team members.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with individuals families and team members.
Compassionate patient and empathetic approach to supporting individuals with diverse needs and abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fastpaced environment demonstrating flexibility adaptability and problemsolving skills.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required for communitybased activities and transportation of individual as needed. If working in a licensed Winter Family Care setting company vehicles are provided. If providing IHS services reliable transportation is required.
