TAT Piedmont is looking for a qualified Quality Engineer. The essential duties and responsibilities of the Quality Engineer will vary depending upon the assignment within the TAT Piedmont location. The Quality Engineer position will work closely with the engineering operations and supply chain teams for daily MRO quality support. In addition this position will lead corrective action and process/procedural improvement activities and supplier quality activities/initiatives within the Piedmont MRO facility. The following list represents the key activities typical of this role:

Duties & Responsibilities

Update and maintain procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with Customer and FAA requirements.

Conduct internal process and product audits in support of quality compliance.

Provide interface to the Customer and FAA for quality and regulatory related activities.

Host and provide support for customers FAA and industry quality audits or certification activities.

Create Quality Assurance Program Plans as applicable.

Participate in design review and design verification as required.

Create inspection plans and methods for MRO operations including inspection equipment and tools necessary to provide efficient inspection processes.

Assist and train personnel in procedures and processes establishing and documenting inspection criteria and process improvements including process auditing.

Participate in and lead corrective actions.

Utilize qualitative and statistical methods and tools to collect summarize analyze interpret and communicate process capability and performance.

Responsible for any supplierrelated activities affecting Piedmont Aviation Quality

Evaluate audit strategize and develop suppliers through regular supplier visits and planning meetings.

Conducts periodic and special surveys of supplier facilities and MRO processes to determine adequacy and capability of quality control and ability to comply with FAA regulations.

Track supplier performance through monthly KPI and drive Zero Defect mentality within the supply base.

Utilize supplier Scorecards/metrics and analytical tools to quantify performance levels of individual suppliers and work with those suppliers to develop improvement plans to achieve 100 quality performance.

Will identify gaps to goals and collaboratively develop and support countermeasures and activities to close the gap and exceed targets.

Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of nonconformances.



Requirements

Strong process evaluation development and implementation required.

Experience in performing/leading root cause analysis and corrective action development.

Experience in Aviation Maintenance MRO Part 145 is preferred.

Auditing experience required preferably to AS9110/AS9100. Lead Auditor certification for AS9110/AS9100 preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge and utilization of quality management tools such as: Value Stream Mapping capability studies SPC Control Plans Kaizen 5S Statistical Analysis Root Cause analysis tools 8D) Corrective Action Systems Error Proofing Robust Design FMEA and Cause and Effect Diagrams

Experience in Machining Plating and Grinding processes NADCAP preferred.

Working knowledge of GD&T

Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to use enterprise applications (e.g. material resource planning product lifecycle management) and a variety of special software applications daily.

US Citizenship

Required Education and Experience

Bachelors degree from fouryear College or University with major course work in engineering quality or science preferred along with 5 years Quality Engineering experience in the Aviation Maintenance (MRO) Part 145 industry. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted.

Certification to the Body of Knowledge for ASQ Quality CQE CQA CQM etc. preferred.
