Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Inpatient Rehab

Hours vary: Monday to Sunday

PRN (as needed)

PRN Rate: $60

Shift minimum requirements: 2 weekend days per month 24 shifts per year minimum.

Seeking a PRN Speech Language Pathologist to join our growing multidisciplinary team in our IPR setting. This is a PRN position at Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation in Lakeway. The candidate will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to treat medically complex patients that include stroke brain injury SCI cancer and other acquired or progressive neuro diagnoses with comorbidities including aphasia cognitive communication deficits motor speech disorders and dysphagia. We are seeking a candidate with strong swallowing and neurological rehab skills who works well in a team setting. We are open to recent graduates with previous experience with cognitive rehab swallowing brain injury and stroke No CFY opportunities at this time. We are seeking an SLP with Monday Friday availability as well as weekends. This candidate will have the opportunity to cross train and work in our Day Neuro OP setting (located on the hospital campus) working with the adult Neuro patient population.

Responsibilities

Evaluates all assigned patients and develops implements and modifies treatment plan in accordance with the patients need and physician direction. Responsible for delegation and direction of all disciplinespecific therapy services for those assigned patients. Ensures the design of functional and patientcentered treatment programs allowing for an effective return to community and prior level of function. Serves as an educator of patients families students coworkers and self. Performs other professional duties associated with the care of the patient development of disciplinespecific therapy services and design of program delivery.

We are seeking someone who can:

    • Evaluate the patients level of functioning and develop an individualized treatment plan aligned with patient and family goals
    • Participate in discharge planning including placement patient and family education and adaptive equipment
    • Work closely with an interdisciplinary team model.
    • Perform standardized assessments for disorders related to speech language cognitivecommunication voice and fluency disorders to create an individualized and patientcentered plan of care.
    • Perform clinical swallow evaluations and interpret Modified Barium Swallow evaluations in order to safely determine a diet and individualized plan of care.
    • Plan and deliver effective patient and family training to address safety concerns and facilitate carryover into the home and community.
    • Participate in monthly speech trainings and CEUs related to speech pathology.
    • Market and promote speech services to the community in order to grow the speech program in Central Texas.
    • Demonstrate commitment to team flexibility professional interpersonal communication critical thinking and customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in SpeechLanguage Pathology required
  • CCCSLP certification from ASHA TXSLP certification from the State Board of Examiners for SpeechLanguage Pathology and Audiology and BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
  • Dysphagia experience required.
  • 3 years of outpatient experience with adult neuro preferred.
  • LSVT/SPEAK OUT certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with AAC preferred.
  • NMES for swallowing (AmpCare preferred).
