The Mens Behaviour Change program is dedicated to addressing family and domestic violence (FDV) by providing comprehensive culturally responsive and evidencebased interventions for men who choose to use violent and abusive behaviours in a family setting. This is where you come in

The Victim Support Officer role forms part of the team to ensure the program is not increasing risk to the victims of family violence providing trauma informed recovery focused and culturally safe interventions. This includes delivery of face to face and phone support including debriefing psychoeducation and information about family domestic violence safety assessment safety planning referral and advocacy to victims. Youll workcollaboratively with the Coordinator and Facilitator of the program providing victim informed perspectives and safety risk management input.

This is a part time 0.5 FTE) maximum term contract until 31 December 2026 and is based in Albany.



Skills And Experiences

What you will bring

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work Psychology Social Science or Counselling and significant industry experience with specialist knowledge relevant to the position
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting individuals and families preferably in respect to family and domestic violence and/or trauma
  • Demonstrated experience in family violence safety assessment and planning
  • Experience working in culturally safe and responsive ways with clients from Aboriginal and other diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent written oral and interpersonal communication
  • Knowledge of victim and perpetrator issues in Family and Domestic Violence
  • Knowledge of impact of Family and Domestic Violence on children
  • Knowledge of current theory practice and issues related to family and domestic violence and trauma and impact on families

The successful candidate must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year a WA Working with Children Check and a WA Drivers Licence.
