We are seeking an Addiction Recover Mentor to provide peer services as a part of the Student Opportunities for Achieving Results (SOAR) program. The SOAR program is a collaboration with the Marion County Sherrifs Department Chemeketa Community College and Marion County Addiction Treatment Services. We are currently seeking an Addiction Recovery Mentor who is a dedicated helping professional. Key responsibilities for this role include establishing connections with individuals seeking assistance appropriately sharing your lived experience and providing mentoring services and support. This role involves working both in the office and within the community offering outreach services and collaborating with the addictions treatment services team.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assist and support persons served in county addiction treatment programs in accessing community health and social services; refer persons served to appropriate resources; advocate to obtain required services as necessary; provide information and education on wellnessrelated issues.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work under the general direction of a clinical supervisor or designee who assigns work establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision and lead work are not responsibilities of this classification. If an appointing authority assigns an employee to a full spectrum of lead worker duties the county shall compensate the employee as described in the Marion County Personnel Rules.
The incumbent in this position upholds confidentiality rules/regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Services may be delivered in person or via telehealth; services may be delivered in the following locations: office or in the community including settings necessary to deliver addiction counseling services (e.g. psychiatric crisis center schools hospitals jail courtroom residences including transitional housing etc.. The incumbent performs all of the following using a personcentered strengthsbased recoveryoriented traumainformed culturally sensitive and ethically guided approach:
Builds rapport with persons served. Identifies the needs of persons served and their families; conducts outreach to engage persons who would benefit from addiction treatment services and supports; applies crisis prevention management and deescalation skills. Assists in removing barriers to success; assists in transporting persons served to medical appointments food pantry sites shelter assistance benefits programs etc.; creates and maintains positive relationships with community partners; advocates on behalf of persons served and in support of resource development.
Renders mentoring services and supports both in the office and in community settings necessary to deliver addiction counseling services and supports; works within a team; collaborates with coworkers and community partners; assists persons served in accessing the resources they need to recover from substance abuse problems; provides case management and care coordination services; assists in making timely referrals to other professionals agencies community programs or appropriate resources; evaluates outcome of referrals. Builds rapport with persons served. Identifies the needs of persons served and their families; conducts outreach to engage persons who would benefit from addiction treatment services and supports; Timely documents services rendered in a professional clear accurate and complete manner and in accordance with timelines set forth in policy. Conducts drug testing to include urine drug screens oral swabs and breathalyzers.
Applies crisis prevention management and deescalation skills. Assists in removing barriers to success; assists in transporting persons served to medical appointments food pantry sites shelter assistance benefits programs etc.; creates and maintains positive relationships with community partners; advocates on behalf of persons served and in support of resource development.
Performs other job duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 online or inperson training.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Must possess a current drivers license in the applicants state of residence and an acceptable driving history. Marion County will obtain a copy of the driving record for all qualified applicants from Driver and Motor Vehicle Services and review the driving record according to the Marion County policy and procedure for Driving on County Business. The policy can be found at: finalist for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check; however conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this position.
PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program fulltime employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions about your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or the US Department of Education.
