Join the NVFS Family: We are looking to hire a Case Manager to join the NVFS in our Community Housing team! As the Case Manager you will assist clients in achieving eventual selfsufficiency in the areas of family systems housing budgeting employment educational training health and other human services with an emphasis on longterm economic and housing stability. Clients may include individuals with varying disabilities victims of domestic violence families experiencing homelessness and/or other traumatic experiences. As the Case Manager you will utilize a TraumaInformed and Housing First approach to collaborate with clients in achieving their goals while striving to reduce the amount of time that clients are experiencing barriers to stable housing. Community Housing uses the Housing First approach in working with all customers. Community Housing Case Managers serve communitybased clients throughout the Northern Virginia region.
Your Future Team: The NVFS Community Housing programs provide direct assistance and supportive services to support safe and stable housing for eligible households in several jurisdictions across Northern Virginia. These programs work in partnership with other nonprofit organizations Community Service Boards and County Housing and Community Development programs.

This position has a starting salary in the upper 40s to lower 50s.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Conduct comprehensive initial screening process to determine eligibility for program services providing assessment intake and enrollment where appropriate.
- Provide case management and housing services including collaborative service planning interventions budgeting support and resource coordination to help clients achieve their short and longterm goals.
- Conduct quality assurance surveys during and after the completion of the program to accurately gauge client satisfaction.
- Conduct outreach and establish network of community resources and services.
- Facilitate supporteducational groups to increase client knowledge of relevant life skills and community resources including but not limited to basics of renting fair housing selfesteem safety parenting child care nutrition money management credit counseling home maintenance and good housekeeping skills.
- Make referrals to other services as needed and work with other community providers to ensure collaborative services to clients.
- Use clinical skills and knowledge of behavioral health issues to mediate client concerns and deescalate situations when necessary.
- Conduct inspections of basement units shared housing townhomes condos and apartments to ensure adherence to safety standards and federal/funder regulations.
- Conduct and document home visits to document progress and ensure that clients continue to meet program guidelines and eligibility.
- Process and conduct client case assessments and recertifications to ensure compliance with contract funding and grant requirements.
- Outreach to landlords for mediation negotiation and tenant relations.
- Monitor direct assistance that can be used for financial support rent utility and payments.
- Compile and prepare appropriate tenant/landlord contracts and landlord check request payments to ensure timely delivery.
- Participate in regular supervision with supervisor by providing regular updates and preparing case presentations.
- Maintain client files in accordance with program requirements and NVFS guidelines.
- Maintain current level of knowledge on program software and other information on housing assistance programs.
- Comply with the Standards and Ethics for Housing Counseling.
- Maintain certification CEUs if certified.
Your Background: We understand that you may obtain skills through a variety of professional personal educational and volunteer experiences.
- Prefer one of the following:
- Bachelors degree in Social Work or related human services field; OR
- Associates degree with at least two 2 years of related work experience OR
- At least four 4 years of related work experience with no relevant education
- At least one 1 year of case management experience specializing in human services; strongly prefer experience providing direct services to individuals in housingrelated crisis
- At least one 1 year of Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate timely and relevant reports case notes forms and documentation to support client services and resource referrals.
- Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with a diverse client base and landlords
- Housing Counselor and/or HQS (Housing Quality Standards) Certification a plus but not required
- Oral and written fluency in English required; Spanish language fluency preferred. Additional language skills always welcome.
- Proficiency in usage of basic technological tools including laptops/computers email phones and internet; working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
