Collins Aerospace is looking to hire an aircraft repair station surface prep technician to paint and refinish surfaces components and equipment in a repair station environment. The primary duties include preparing surfaces applying paint and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards in accordance with specified requirements. The individual is also required to maintain professionalism while working in close cooperation with supervision engineering and collaborating with crossfunctional teams to identify and resolve problems related to repairs or quality. The ideal candidate must demonstrate prior experience working with aircraft painting systems preferably within a FAA Part 145 MRO environment.

What You Will Do
You will clean sand mask and prime surfaces to prepare them for painting.
You will perform surface treatment preservative coating for storage and chemical processing operations on various metals in the form of parts and assemblies.
You will mix and apply paint varnish enamel lacquer epoxy and other finishes using brushes rollers and spray equipment. Ensure even and precise application adhering to technical specifications. Also regulates temperatures and moves painted items to drying racks.
You will prepare a paint mixture and apply to various assemblies before oven baking.
You will set up and operate equipment to coat components with paint.
You will paint items by hand and using a paint gun as required.
You will inspect painted surfaces for flaws ensuring a highquality finish.
You will make any necessary touchups or corrections.
You will finish coated surfaces by baking in an oven
You will maintain painting equipment and tools ensuring they are clean properly stored and in good working condition.
You will work to specifications and use all required equipment to perform assigned work according to FAA and company regulations.
You will follow all safety protocols and guidelines maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
You will demonstrate safe work habits and maintain neat and orderly work area.
You will wear goggles or safety glasses to protect the eyes from splatters or overspray.
You will use a respirator mask designed explicitly for filtering out harmful chemicals.
You will keep the work area clean and clutterfree to prevent accidents and falls.
You will participate in CORE Continuous Improvement and EH&S activities
You will record all work performed materials used and time spent on each project.
You will utilize computer system by inputting and retrieving information to perform normal daily activities.
You will perform minor repair work such as removing old paint and preparing surfaces for painting.
This position is for 2nd shift 3:00 11:30 PM which requires a minimum of 90 days training on the 1st shift before a permanent move to the 2nd shift
Physical Requirements
This position will stand for long periods lift heavy objects and perform repetitive tasks. Comfortable working at various heights and in confined spaces.
Work Environment
The work is done in a repair station environment requiring adherence to strict safety standards and protocols. May involve exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
U.S. Person (U.S. citizen permanent resident refugee or asylee) as defined here: We Prefer
23 years of experience as an industrial Surface Prep or in a similar role
Experience with reading and interpreting CMM instructions
