Job Description

Student and Campus Life (SCL) inspires transformation in all Cornell students on their journey of individual academic and personal evolution. Our division is comprised of leading student affairs experts who support our campus on pressing student life matters including public service health wellness social justice residential living food services sports recreation career services and student activities and organizations including sorority and fraternity life. We provide support and services to roughly 25000 undergraduate graduate and professional students on multiple campuses in the U.S. and abroad.

The Cornell Health Nursing & Clinical Support Services Department focuses on the health and wellbeing of Cornells students in order for them to achieve academic work and life success. The department provides clinical support to the organization through nursing and clinical support services. Department members collaborate with colleagues across the organization to foster lifelong learning and wellbeing through innovative services and strategies that promote the mental emotional physical and social health of individuals and our diverse campus community.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides support to the clinical staff by preparing the patient for the appointment assisting during the procedure or examination if required and cleaning exam rooms. In addition they perform a variety of nursing functions including: instructing patients on how to collect specimens performing ECG Spirometry nebulizer treatments wound care administering immunizations performing eye exams or hearing tests administering medications in both oral and injectable form and insertion of IVs. The LPN provides patients with instructions upon discharge on the use of any medical equipment and/or medications per clinician orders and functions as a patient advocate.

This position is considered an Essential Employee; those needed on campus to meet the needs of students research programs or general operations when the university is in reduced operating status or closed. This position is OSHA category BBP1; TB1; ERG2.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current New York State LPN license.
  • Two years of recent experience in ambulatory care/clinic setting.
  • Experience working with an electronic health record management system.
  • CPRBLS level certification required within one year of employment and maintained biannually.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a college health or adolescent setting or with a diverse patient population.
  • Proficiency in language(s) in addition to English.

This position begins at $26.56.
