DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITY
- Prioritize providingexceptional customer service to deliver a positive customer experience therebycultivating a positive reputation for the company and fostering customerloyalty
- Coordinate departmental activities and operations.
- Greet and assist customers in a manner that models exemplaryconduct to other staff.
- Lead by example to build department commitment to high standardsof service.
- Encourage a positive team atmosphere that enables the team to meetor exceed goals and achieve consistently high levels of customer service.
- Ensure all customer complaints are addressed and handledprofessionally leaving the customer with a positive resolution.
- Train employees in company products and knowledge
- Conduct oneonone or small group training presentations forproduct knowledge store activities and established policies and procedures.
- Strive to minimize staff turnover and to keep team headcount atacceptable levels.
- Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusualevents to keep the store operating to our level of standards and to set apositive example for your team.
- Assist with new employee training by positively reinforcingsuccessful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching asneeded.
- Provide input to strategic and tactical planning processes.
- Supervise the activities of all grocery clerks.
- Provide feedback to store manager on employee performance.
- Administer disciplinary action in accordance with establishedprocedures.
- Provide and maintain a safe work environment which includes safetytraining for staff when required.
- Regularly communicate and collaborate between other departmentsand with other stores.
- Respond and resolve employee issues escalating to Departmentand/or Store manager as needed.
- Implement department plans and budgets as assigned by theDepartment Manager
- Drive sales while honoring trends within the department.
- Staff scheduling maintaining budgeted labor hours.
- Assist with Inventory Management
- Adheringto all food safety protocols standard operating procedures health and safetypolicies and other programs and initiatives.
- Other duties as required.
Financial
- Assists withDepartment plans and budgets including labour budgets achieved througheffective scheduling measuring results allocating resources reviewingprogress and making midcourse corrections as required
- Assists inimplementing the Strategy for the Department
- Assists with payrollfor the department.
Team Building
- Builds a strongcohesive team where employees feel they contribute and are valued.
- Grows their team andempowers employees to make decisions on their own.
- Delegatesresponsibilities to their employees
- Identifies keyperformers and provides opportunities for growth development and advancement.
Staffing
- Supervises the work ofthe grocery employees.
- Ensures schedules arecompleted and posted for employees in a timely manner.
- In conjunction with HumanResources recruits and selects new grocery staff.
- Holds monthly staffmeetings to keep employees informed of operations and company news.
Employee Relations
- Provides employee withregular feedback on their performance.
- Follows up with staffon any breach of company policy and ensure proper progressive discipline formsare completed.
Training and Development
- Provides standardized trainingfor all new and existing employees including health and safety
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School or GEDfrom an accredited school system or program is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of one year of experience inretail preferred.
- One year of experience in a supervisory ormanagerial role preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent listeningskills and communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to work underpressure while maintaining a professional image at all times
- Work independentlywith little direct supervision.
- Have a wellbalancedconcern for both task and people.
- Ability to delegateduties and responsibilities.
- Have a genuine concernfor needs of customers.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Job requires employeeto work a variety of shifts including mornings days evenings weekends andholidays.
- Also required to workwith challenging customers and/or situations.
