Job Description

Job Title: Project Manager Assistant

Reports to: Project Manager

Location: Des Moines IA

FLSA Status: FullTime / NonExempt

Position Description. The Project Manager Assistant Mission Critical works within the Commercial division of Baker Electric Inc. a subsidiary of publicly traded EMCOR Group Inc. and is located in Des Moines IA. The position will partner with the team of Project Managers for Mission Critical work in clerical and administrative tasks and with leadership in special projects.

Example Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Initiate methods and documentation to manage electrical service and construction projects
  • Utilize accounting software to issue purchase orders for materials and equipment
  • Produce project documentation including submittals and operation manuals
  • Compile data and prepare project or personnel reports
  • Assist Project Management staff in maintaining accurate and current project documentation
  • Create and track project information including change orders RFIs and submittals
  • Collect and organize project initiation and close out documents
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Division Manager / Executive Team with recommendations for resolution.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies procedures and safety programs as established.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.
  • Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS. To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Preferred Education and Experience (Knowledge)

  • Minimum 13 years related experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required: Associates Degree or higher preferred
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills effectively in the English language

Required Attributes and Competencies (Skills)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook and Excel formulas and formatting
  • Familiarity with Windows based operating systems and web based applications include ERP systems or other construction/financial software packages
  • Must demonstrate integrity honesty professionalism and commitment to company values
  • Must have ability to build positive working relationships with multiple levels of employees management suppliers and customers
  • Must have excellent organizational communication problem solving and multitasking skills
  • Must demonstrate ability to effectively organize and manage multiple tasks and to meet frequent deadlines

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit see talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls. The employee is regularly required to walk reach with hands and arms climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twentyfive 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee may be required to commute to field locations and project sites and be able to navigate around the job site locations.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee should expect to sit for long periods in front of a computer and also travel to field locations as needed.

While visiting field locations the employee may be required to be outdoors exposed to outside weather conditions extended exposure to sunlight moisture cold and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
