The customer team comprises Sales Project Management System Engineering and System Technologist personnel working together in a high performance culture often with demanding cycle times and high customer expectations because we are working on missioncritical communication systems.
Many of our systems are designed around the APCO Project 25 communications standard. With the growth of data services some of our customers mobile wireless networks are being enhanced with LTE infrastructure for applications such as APX Next Smart and live mobile video transmission supplementing our traditional core voice and narrowband data networks.
Job Description
Note: This is a remote role located in Florida.
Overview:
The Sr. Systems Engineer will be responsible for the public safety design and implementation of solutions for Motorolas ASTRO 25 and adjacent technologies for State and Local government agencies. We are looking for Engineers who are energized by delivering solutions that truly make a difference.
Responsibilities:
The Sr. Systems Engineer will work with a field team of Project Management Systems Engineers System Technologists Construction Managers and Customer Service Managers and will be responsible for leading technical aspects of the assigned project until system acceptance.
This involves:
- Design and implementation of the radio network including infrastructure subscribers mobile backhaul and WAN and CEN networks.
- High level of customer and consultant interaction involving customer design reviews customer witnessed staging and acceptance testing events coverage acceptance testing live system upgrades and troubleshooting efforts.
- System buildout configuration and acceptance testing in both lab staging and field environments
- Radio coverage testing frequency analysis and interference mitigation
- Radio system licensing (FCC/Industry Canada/NTIA)
- Preparation of system fleet map encryption and radio programming templates
- Complete system documentation
- Live system cutovers and upgrades
Additional Skills/Knowledge:
- Radio Frequency Engineering principles
- Land / Mobile Radio Engineering principles
- RFDS principles to include antenna and cable selection transmit combiners receive multicouplers and lightning protection systems.
- P25 Land Mobile Radio terminology and twoway subscriber radio provisioning methods.
- Experience with Motorola ASTRO 25 architecture a plus.
- Servers and related systems to include: VMware ESXI Linux and Microsoft operating systems.
- Construction of remote communication sites to include: site selection grounding compound development tower and shelter requirements.
- Fortinet firewalls Nokia 7705 series routers Juniper SRX/MX (Junos) series routers HP/Aruba switches
- Remote access using SSH SCP SFTP RDP
- Knowledge with pointtopoint Microwave systems Microwave RF & Network design FCC licensing a plus
- Software applications integration Application Protocol Interfaces (API) concepts computer operating systems and the OSI model.
- Networking protocols and devices including OSPF ISIS BGP MPLS SIP RTP SNMP NAT routers switches and stateful packet firewalls.
- Knowledge of physical layer such as fiber copper and microwave.
- Certifications a plus through CompTIA Network Juniper JNCIAJunos Nokia NRS1 CCNA or similar a plus.
- Works collaboratively and builds relationships with other colleagues customers and third party service professionals.
- Selfmotivated good written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
Target Base Salary Range: $98100.00 $196200.00 USD
