Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading writing & speaking common English vocabulary; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in maintenance repair work (e.g. basic electricity plumbing carpentry masonry repair & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment); in Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry only applicants must have successfully completed the mandated basic firefighter/introduction to fire behavior course (S130/S190; in accordance with section 124.11 (B) 2 of revised code Director Of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination. Valid commercial drivers license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.
Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required but not for the mandated licensure.

Maintenance department serves both the Ohio School for the Deaf and the Ohio State School for the Blind. The selected applicant(s) will be assigned a primary work location at the time of hire with the possibility of working cross campus.
Performs skilled or semiskilled repairs:
- Makes alterations and/or repairs to buildings equipment and wooden structures (e.g. doors windows walls woodwork floors partitions spot roofing security devices locks HVAC kitchen equipment);
- Repairs electrical problems (e.g. lighting fixtures switches outlets motors electrical circuits);
- Repairs plumbing problems (e.g. water lines trap fittings plumbing fixtures pumps sinks toilets faucets piping drains); if assigned and licensed boilers.
- Cuts grass rakes leaves trims hedges removes dead trees or tree limbs;
- Removes ice and snow from sidewalks and/or driveways;
- Uses appropriate equipment (e.g. snow remover tractor lawn mower);
- Completes preventive maintenance requirements;
- Follows manufacturers instructions;
- Notifies supervisor of needed repairs;
- Follows all safety procedures;
- Changes oil and filter; checks transmission fluid and tire air pressure.
- Drives school vehicles as needed;
- Unloads delivery trucks picksup supplies.
