Principal Engineer

This position will be supporting the engineering group in a senior engineer capacity providing input during project reviews ensuring use of sound engineering practices meeting customer requirements and maintaining any applicable certification compliance such as ISO. As well the senior engineer is responsible for leading the creation and review of FMEA and risk analysis documentation root cause analysis corrective actions and process improvement efforts. Additionally the senior engineer will be assisting the leadership team with generation and updates to any process related documentation to support new certification efforts as well as conducting internal audits as needed to ensure compliance. As well this role is responsible for leading large/complex engineering/technical projects providing solutions to customers as needed. Other efforts include but are not limited to development and delivery of training materials as needed mentoring junior engineers participate in various technical challenges and team support activities. Occasional travel is expected for this role. This role will be working in a highly agile environment in a multifunctional team and therefore being a team player and having flexibility adaptability attention to detail are key to success.

1. BS degree in mechanical aerospace engineering or related field
2. 25 years of experience in product development
3. 15 years of experience leading product development in a senior/lead engineer capacity
4. 15 years of experience reviewing 2D drawings including application of GD&T and tolerance stackup calculations
5. 15 years of experience leading FMEA and risk analysis
6. 15 years of experience conducting root cause analysis and performing corrective actions
7. 10 years of experience conducting audits to meet certifications such as ISO
8. Experience in reviewing FEA analysis simulation results and interrogating outcomes using sound engineering judgement and best practices
9. Practical experience reverseengineering products/projects
10. Familiarity with various manufacturing processes such as casting forging extrusion CNC machining injection molding thermoforming etc.
11. Attention to detail and organizational skills
12. Ability to perform extensive research catalogue findings during development activities and write reports for both internal and external use
13. Effective interpersonal communication and presentation skills with coworkers and clients
14. Experience mentoring and teaching younger engineers
15. Selfmotivation with ability to work with minimal supervision
16. Ability to work in a high pace and agile environment
17. Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1. Experience with Additive Manufacturing
2. Experience working under ISO 9001 certified and/or AS9100 certified facility
