Job Summary: The Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist (LRRT) is expected to apply their expertise in guiding decisions that involve complex procedures. The LRRT must ensure that completed work is evaluated for technical soundness appropriateness and conformity to policy. The Lead Respiratory Therapist will regularly use a variety of sources for guidance in order to make clinically sound decisions.
Duties: - Use professional judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines such as agency policies regulations precedents and work directions for application to specific cases or problems.
- Demonstrates the ability to assign personnel and tasks to be accomplished in a manner that assures completion of the workload.
- Oversees and directs clinical guidance in a manner that assures completion of the workload.
- Communicates with individuals of varying backgrounds to solve problems and provide conflict resolution.
- Recommends uncommon or atypical interventions.
- Ability to recommend ways to improve patient care and operations through independent research and evaluation of new equipment and therapies
- Provides clinical leadership and promotes quality patient care by training and leading assigned staff members.
- Collaborates with the manager and/or director in developing and revising department quality assurance performance improvement policies procedures and protocols.
- Serves as a department liaison and first line of contact with patients providers and staff.
- Coordinates and oversees the safe delivery of complex nonroutine treatments of patients.
- Performs facility specific specialty procedures as required.
- Adheres to policies procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.
Qualifications: - Associates degree or Diploma from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. Bachelors Degree preferred.
- One 1 year critical care experience and one 1 year of related supervisory/lead experience in hospital setting. Three 3 years of each preferred.
- Supervision/Management knowledge and experience
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Current NM Respiratory Care License and BLS
- ACLS or National Specialty Certification
- AARC Membership & National Specialty Certification preferred
Physical Requirements: - Considerable walking/standing may be required. Frequent lifting positioning pushing/pulling may be required when assisting with the transfer of patients or when moving equipment or supplies. Frequent prolonged extensive or considerable sitting is often required. Manual dexterity and mobility is required. Moderate physical effort (ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds) may be occasionally required.
