ERG is seeking electrical engineers with experience supporting operations and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment including electrical distribution systems electrical service to individual buildings or plants emergency backup systems HVAC surge suppression control systems telecommunications systems and electrical safety systems (e.g. bonding and grounding lightning protection). This position is located at a federal site in Indian Head MD and will involve working closely with teams of engineers and technicians who support a large campus with a wide range of electrical systems and equipment.
The position will be fulltime at the federal site in Indian Head MD and will include interaction and support from ERG personnel at the federal site as well as from ERGs Chantilly and Arlington offices. Indian Head is approximately 30 miles from Washington DC 25 miles from Alexandria VA and 60 miles from Fredericksburg VA. Alternative work schedules may be considered.
Job Description:
Plan implement or monitor preventative maintenance programs (e.g. inspections testing and maintenance) that comply with federal and local requirements and industry codes standards and guidelines
Provide engineering support toward documenting and/or troubleshooting operational issues with electrical systems and/or electrical equipment
Identify and work to proactively resolve any compliance issues
Identify and document potential capital improvement projects necessary to improve operations by conducting site visits to document existing conditions developing new requirements based on planned use and creating preliminary scopes or budgetary cost estimates
Perform electrical design reviews for facility improvement projects provided by thirdparty or inhouse design efforts
Assess compliance of design packages with applicable Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) electrical codes and regulations as well as enduser requirements
Knowledge and experience working with related equipment and systems such as electrical power service emergency generator HVAC surge suppression lightning protection grounding bonding control systems and telecommunications systems
Collaborate and communicate effectively with other stakeholders internal and external
Serve as a project manager on some assigned projects
Qualifications and Skills:
A Bachelors degree or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (minimum GPA of 3.0
A Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred but not required
At least eight years of experience with an electrical engineering degree or at least ten years of relevant experience and a degree in another engineering discipline
Experience with energeticsrelated safety systems (e.g. bonding & grounding lightning protection systems) is preferred but not required
Demonstrated ability to collaborate/communicate effectively with internal/external stakeholders
Excellent verbal/written communication problemsolving conflict resolution and decisionmaking skills
Must be fluent in NFPA 70 and NEC
Experience working with AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Ability to prioritize perform and communicate effectively in a fastpaced environment
Have or be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
$100000 $165000 a year
