Job Description

A School Psychologist with The Menta Group will provide regional leadership to effectively help students succeed. This includes working with parents educators and other professionals to create supportive academic learning and social environments for all students.
Successful candidates for this position will have strong skills in databased decisionmaking multidisciplinary collaboration functional behavior assessment/SEL Goal writing and behavioral approaches to change intervention planning risk assessment progress monitoring program evaluation and consultation with educational staff parents and other professionals. Knowledge of childhood mental illnesses and empiricallybased interventions is essential.

Local travel to our school network with occasional regional travel is required.

Responsibilities

    • Experience working with children and adolescents with significant behavioral and emotional difficulties in a school setting
    • Extensive experience with the social emotional components of the IEP process (FA/BIP SEL goal writing)
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent consultative and data analysis abilities
    • Creative thinker who can develop a wide range of empiricallysupported interventions to meet the needs of diverse children and adolescents
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers paraprofessionals and other service providers
    • Local travel to our school network with occasional regional travel is required.

Qualifications

    • Professional Educators License with School Psychologist Endorsement/Certification in Illinois
    • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
    • Strong consultative and data analysis abilities
    • Creative thinker who can develop a wide range of interventions meeting the needs of a diverse student population
    • Excellent communication skills

About Menta Academy Midway

Menta Academy Midway promotes independence in students by creating a learning environment that fosters individualization and planning. The program provides support for English and nonEnglish speaking children with disabilities by focusing on the whole child in their native language. Collaborative and databased problemsolving approaches are utilized to develop appropriate interventions and progress monitoring.

The classrooms integrate evidencebased strategies from the Structured Teaching Model developed by Division TEACCH University of North CarolinaChapel Hill. Physical structure visual schedules work systems communication systems and sensory supports are thoughtfully integrated to optimize student success.

Midway serves students in grades K12 and those transitioning from school to life ages 1821. Disabilities served include autism emotional disabilities specific learning disabilities intellectual disabilities other health impairments traumatic brain injury and multiple disabilities.
