Summary of Job Duties:

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking a Graduate Research Assistant to work on an NSF ICorps Grant under the direction of Dr. Nawab Ali in the Biology Department. This is an oncampus position. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.


Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Currently regularly admitted in the Applied Science PhD Program in the Applied Biosciences emphasis area at the UA Little Rock campus.
  • Maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA for all UALR graduate credit courses.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • More than 4 years of experience working in a biological lab as a graduate student in the area of oxidative stress using cell models.
  • Knowledge of nanotechnologybased drug delivery systems for cancer treatment.

Job Duties:

  • Attend all national NSF ICorps meetings in the assigned cohort;
  • Prepare and present PowerPoint and video presentations on the customer discovery of our research product;
  • Contact scientists physicians and executives of pharmaceutical companies;
  • Schedule them for telephone and zoom meetings for NSF ICorps interviews;
  • Conduct interviews with other team members to seek opinions about nanotechnologybased targeted drug delivery to treat breast cancer;
  • Update Business Canvas Models based on interviews on a weekly basis.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to plan conduct experimentsand analyze data using Graph Pad Prism;
  • Prepare cell culture media and grow human cells;
  • Conduct Flow Cytometry and Cell viability assays;
  • Grow and conduct experimentswith Dictyostelium discoideum;
  • Perform developmental assays on Dictyostelium discoideum;
  • Study effects of oxidativestress;
  • Ability to present research work to others.
