Executive Director

Background
The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) is a leading advocate for survivors of clergy and religious abuse. Combining expert legislative advocacy with a selfhelp group model SNAP is the largest and most active support network for survivors of institutional abuse. Founded in 1988 by Barbara Blaine a survivor herself SNAP began with a focus on the Catholic faith and has since expanded to support survivors from all religious backgrounds. SNAPs groundbreaking work in collaboration with the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) successfully brought the Vatican before international legal bodies like the United Nations and the International Criminal Court (ICC) and resulted in the firstever case against the pope and the Vatican for crimes against children. Today SNAP has over 25000 members with support groups in more than 60 cities worldwide dedicated to healing the wounded protecting the vulnerable and stopping abuse.

Purpose of the role
SNAP is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead the organization through a pivotal period of transition and growth. This role offers a unique opportunity to build on SNAPs legacy while ensuring organizational sustainability and longterm impact. The Executive Director will strengthen internal operations enhance administrative systems and expand fundraising efforts to support SNAPs survivor community and key stakeholders. This leader must bring strategic vision operational expertise and a deep commitment to SNAPs missionempowering survivors advocating for systemic change and driving the organizations longterm success.

Primary responsibilities
The job holder will have the following key functions and responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to implement a threeyear strategic plan focusing on administration funding communication and partnerships.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders including survivors support group leaders advocacy leaders attorneys and other partners.
  • Develop and maintain internal administrative processes that support survivor needs ensure traumainformed practices and foster collaboration with chapter support groups and advocacy communities.
Duties:
  • Develop funding proposals manage donor relationships and ensure successful implementation of major projects.
  • Establish scalable and welldocumented backoffice processes to ensure continuity and seamless knowledge sharing.
  • Oversee financial reporting audits and budget ratification to ensure fiscal transparency and accountability; attend quarterly board meetings as needed.
  • Develop and facilitate the annual conference and leaders meeting to advance the organizations mission strengthen partnerships and recruit and train survivor leaders.
  • Enhance the organizations visibility and support by leveraging its brand partnerships and marketing efforts through website management social media and professional marketing materials.
  • Design and uphold a rigorous vetting system to align participants with the organizations mission ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Support the global network of survivor support groups and maintain proactive advocacy by monitoring and responding to relevant news and legislative updates.

Essential Qualifications
  • Commitment to SNAP Networks mission with a passion for advocacy and survivor support.
  • Five or more years of nonprofit leadership experience.
  • Proven experience in budget management including preparation analysis and reporting.
  • Strong fundraising expertise with donor relations experience.
  • Excellent IT skills with experience using databases for fundraising growth.
  • Monitor and respond swiftly to relevant news including legislative updates arrests and coverups ensuring the organization remains proactive in advocacy public awareness and strategic communications.
  • Facilitate the annual conference and the annual leaders meeting.
  • Strong organizational abilities in planning delegation and program development.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with and motivate chapter leaders donors and board members.
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with survivors of abuse and key stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience growing an international organization.
  • Experience working with survivor populations volunteers and support groups.
  • Experience revitalizing an organizations brand to increase reach and impact.
  • Lived experience as a survivor or dedicated advocate for survivors.
  • Bachelors degree and/or equivalent nonprofit management experience.
