Job Description

Introduction

Micah Projects is a community based notforprofit organisation with a vision to create justice and respond to injustice at the personal social and structural levels in church government business and society. We believe that every child and adult has the right to a home an income healthcare education safety dignity and connection with their community of choice. Micah Projects provides a range of support and advocacy services to individuals and families.



Description

Home for Good works to find sustainable solutions for people who are homeless or for individuals families and children who might become homeless without support. Located in innercity Brisbane a range of services are available for individuals and families including information support advocacy health recreational and employment services.

Community Connections Support and Advocacy Workers support program participants to maintain or regain their independence continue living safely in their home and actively participate in their community. Community Connections is funded by the Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS).

This is a fixed term part time role x 2 with conditions and salary at Level 3 of the SCHADS Award.



Skills And Experiences

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a culture of respect safety and traumainformed approaches.
  • Provide assertive outreach and develop individual service plans.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to meet participants needs.
  • Advocate on behalf of participants with government departments and community agencies.
  • Support participants in developing selfadvocacy skills.
  • Maintain accurate and complete data and case notes.
  • Participate in professional development and supervision.

Essential Criteria:

  • Commitment to the vision and mission of Micah Projects.
  • Willingness to obtain a Diploma in Community Services or a Degree in Human Services/Social Work or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated engagement and interpersonal skills particularly with those in crisis situations.
  • Experience in people management volunteering and leadership in community settings.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to cultural diversity and knowledge of equity and WHS principles.
