Job Description

JRDirector Sanctions and Export Compliance Lead

Role Description


The Sanctions & Export Compliance Lead will be responsible for developing implementing and overseeing the compliance strategies and policies related to international sanctions within an organization. This role is critical in ensuring that the company adheres to all applicable sanctions regulations imposed by governments or international bodies (e.g. the U.S. Department of the Treasurys Office of Foreign Assets Control OFAC the European Union the United Nations etc..

The role will report to the Chief Compliance Officer and work in close coordination with the Global Trade Compliance leadership team Legal and Corporate Compliance and Trade Compliance teams in various markets. The role will support the design implementation of guidance training controls and testing of the Global Sanctions Compliance Program.

Sanctions Compliance Strategy and Program Management

  • Evaluate potential risks related to sanctions and determine the impact on the companys operations customers and partners.
  • Assess and mitigate risk to ensure that the companys operations do not inadvertently violate sanctions.
  • Provide advice support and guidance to business units operations finance technology teams including regional compliance teams on sanction export control and matters.

Sanctions Compliance Policies Training and Governance

  • Collaborate with global manufacturing and research & development teams to understand and evaluate product sanction risks and propose corresponding mitigation controls.
  • Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to ensure the company complies with global sanctions laws and regulations.
  • Provide regular updates on changes in sanctions law and regulations affecting the industry.
  • Ensure close communication and information sharing with global compliance colleagues at regions and business partners on trade compliance related matters.
  • Deliver and support the development of training programs to Zoetis colleagues and contractors and external vendors as needed.
  • Raise awareness to sanction risks and obligations within Zoetis.
  • As may be appropriate represent the company and advocate in support of its trade policy agenda before legislative bodies government agencies and regional / international organizations.

Sanctions Compliance Program Evaluation

  • Develop metrics and reporting to identify Key Performance Indicators and Key Risk Indicators to management and other key stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the financial and operational trade metrics and analyses and collaborate with the GTC leadership team to develop solutions and strategies.

Sanctions Compliance Program Audits

  • In collaboration with Compliance and Internal Audit prepare and administer an annual audit plan.
  • Plan and oversee audits of customs operations to assess controls operational efficiencies and compliance with all policies procedures and regulations.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Masters or PhD degree in International Business Law or related field preferred or extensive experience in International Trade and Export Controls or Customs/compliance consulting.
  • Minimum 10 years of sanctions experience in the global context.
  • Deep knowledge of sanctions law: familiarity with OFAC EU UN and other countryspecific sanctions programs. Understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks governing trade finance and international relations
  • Proven expertise in developing implementing and overseeing the compliance strategies and policies related to international sanctions within an organization.
  • Demonstrated management organization interpersonal verbal conceptual and presentation skills within a multinational environment.

Physical Position Requirements

  • Hybrid working environment with approximately 50 of time 23 workdays per week) required onsite in Parsippany NJ headquarters.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally 1020 of the time.
  • Frequent work with global teams located in multiple time zones.
