Job Description

Job Title: Optometrist
Overview
The Optometrist plays a crucial role in the Paramedical College by providing comprehensive eye care including examinations diagnoses and treatments of various ocular conditions. This professional is essential in educating students about visual health and the importance of regular eye checkups not only to support their learning but also to promote lifelong wellness within the community. By working closely with faculty staff and students the Optometrist contributes to a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare education fostering a better understanding of visual sciences. Additionally through the application of advanced diagnostic techniques and the provision of appropriate vision correction methods the Optometrist enhances the learning environment and assists in the overall health maintenance of the student body. The vital educational role of this position also extends beyond clinical practice as this professional is responsible for the guidance and training of future healthcare practitioners in the field of optometry.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations for patients to assess visual acuity and ocular health.
  • Diagnose and manage various ocular diseases and conditions.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and vision therapy as needed.
  • Educate patients on eye care and the importance of regular eye examinations.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as tonometry visual field testing and more.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in optometry and related medical fields.
  • Provide clinical training and mentorship to paramedical students.
  • Develop community outreach programs focused on vision health awareness.
  • Participate in research and development of best practices in optometry.
  • Manage clinic operations including inventory and administrative tasks.
  • Engage in continuous education and professional development activities.
  • Provide excellent customer service ensuring patient comfort and satisfaction.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives in the clinic.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D. degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active state licensure to practice optometry.
  • Strong understanding of ocular anatomy visual sciences and patient care.
  • Experience in performing comprehensive eye exams.
  • Knowledge of optical instruments and diagnostic technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Commitment to patient education and community service.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Experience in educational settings or mentoring roles preferred.
  • Familiarity with current optometric standards and regulations.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing clinical environments.
  • Interest in ongoing research in optometry or visual sciences.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in a college or university setting is a plus.
