Custodian

Position Summary:

The responsibility of the Custodian is to perform general warehouse cleaning duties that help keep the facility in a clean and orderly condition.

Shift and Compensation:

• Shifts Available:
  Sunday Thursday 2pm 10pm
  Monday Friday 10pm 6am

• Hourly Rate: $24.17 plus shift premiums

Specific Responsibilities and Functions:

• Perform general warehouse cleaning duties as per the Master Sanitation schedule and janitorial SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).

• Sweep mop scrub vacuum dust and sanitize various floors of the warehouse office space lunchrooms and washrooms.

• Successfully complete Preventive Maintenance (PMs) that are issued on a daily weekly and monthly basis within set timeframes.

• Empty recycle and garbage containers regularly.

• Check and maintain inventory levels of custodial supplies and replenish when required.

• Clean all warehouse zones pull and clean pallets dust/clean warehouse floors; average of 10 bays/hour.

• Assist with spills in a prompt and efficient manner.

• Empty wrap bins and sweep debris from aisles.

• Outside cleaning may be required.

• Other duties assigned as required.

• Adhere to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization.

• Adherence to food safety GMPs as per Gordon Food Service Distribution Center Food Safety program.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to three 3 different temperature zones within the warehouse.

• Grocery area in the warehouse is room temperature; varies from cold in the winter and warm in the summer.

• Cooler area in the warehouse is approximately 1 or 2 degrees C.

• Freezer area in the warehouse is approximately 15 degrees C. Some areas of the freezer can get as low as 23 degrees C.

• Moderate noise level.

• CSA approved steeltoed safety boots must be worn on the warehouse floor.

• Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs and exposure to various foodsafe cleaning detergents and soaps.

• Must be able to operate various forklifts battery changer and floor scrubber. Some basic knowledge of computer operations is required.

Additional Details:

• Employees are hired on a fulltime basis. However given the nature of the position an employees hours of work will be irregular. Your hours of work may be scheduled on any day of the week (Monday through Sunday) with varying shifts.

• During peak seasons scheduled overtime is required and may include up to 13 hour shifts.

• There is a 30minute paid lunch for an 8hour shift and 40minute paid lunch for a 10hour shift.

• GFS Delivers every day of the year as we are a 24/7 operation. Employees must be flexible to work all Statutory Holidays however this does not necessarily mean that employees will be required to work all of them.
