Job Description

Position Description:

The Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and Childrens Wisconsin (CW) seeks a board certified / board eligible physician to join our Pediatric Nephrology Section as theMedical Director for Pediatric Kidney Transplantation. Rank will be commensurate with experience and is tenureeligible. The medical director is responsible for planning organizing conducting and directing the Pediatric Kidney Transplantation Program. This encompasses liaison activities between Administration and the Medical Staff performance measurement quality improvement regulatory compliance and referral management activities supporting and promoting programmatic growth and development.

About the Section of Pediatric Nephrology

The subspecialty group is comprised of 7 full time faculty and 3 advanced practice providers actively engaged in all missions of the Medical College of Wisconsin and Childrens Wisconsin including clinical care education academic scholarship and community service. The program is supported by a clinical team including pediatric nurses dietitians clinical psychology renal pharmacists and social work dedicated to patient care in Nephrology and Hypertension Kidney Transplant and Dialysis. The program supports an ACGME accredited Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship. The Childrens Wisconsin kidney transplant program is supported by a dedicated nurse practitioner and expert nurse coordinators caring for the child and family throughout the entire transplant journey. Key partnerships with other highly skilled medical and surgical providers including those at Childrens Wisconsin Froedtert and Versiti Blood Research Institute enhance the patient experience and provide support to the child families and living donor/donor families before during and after treatment.

The program also supports an active inhospital dialysis unit staffed by pediatric nurses providing both acute and chronic dialysis services and working in collaboration with the transplant program to provide seamless care across the continuum of chronic kidney disease.Clinical research and quality improvement activities include longstanding participation in national collaborative studies e.g. SCOPE (CHA) NAPRTCS CKiD CURE GN PNRC ICONIC (neonatal dialysis) WEROCK and the Neonatal Kidney Collaborative all of which are supported by a dedicated nephrology research coordinator.

About the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) & Childrens Wisconsin

The hospital has a Pediatric Dialysis Unit dedicated solely to the care of pediatric patients with endstage renal failure. A full range of acute dialysis services are provided in the PICU and NICU areas. The Kidney Transplant program has been active since 1986 and is CMS and UNOS accredited.

Childrens Wisconsin provides primary care specialty care urgent care emergency care community health services foster and adoption services child and family counseling child advocacy services and family resource centers. In 2019 Childrens invested more than $130 million in the community to improve the health status of children through medical care advocacy education and pediatric medical research. Position Requirements:

  • Suitable candidates will have an M.D. Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree
  • Candidates should be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Nephrology.
  • Successful candidates will have experience inor the potential forbuilding an equitable diverse and inclusive scholarly environment in teaching mentoring research life experiences and/or service.
