Counselors

Danbury Parks and Recreation is seeking enthusiastic and responsible Camp Counselors to work directly with campers aged 612 at our youth summer camps. Counselors will bring energy and creativity to daily activities ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience while maintaining a safe and supportive environment. This role is perfect for individuals who love working with kids and thrive in a teamoriented outdoor setting.

• Camper Supervision:Actively monitor and engage with a small group of campers ensuring their safety participation and enjoyment throughout the day.

• Activity Support:Assist in leading games crafts sports and other camp activities under the direction of the Team Leader or Site Director.

• Relationship Building:Foster positive connections with campers encouraging teamwork friendship and inclusion among participants.

• Behavior Management:Address minor camper conflicts or issues with patience and positivity referring significant concerns to the Team Leader or leadership staff.

• Safety Awareness:Follow all camp safety guidelines including headcounts activity rules and basic first aid as needed.

• Team Participation:Collaborate with fellow counselors and staff to support campwide events and maintain a cohesive upbeat atmosphere.

• Daily Assistance:Help with setup cleanup and transitions between activities contributing to the smooth operation of the camp day.

• Education & Experience:High school students 16 or graduates welcome; prior experience with children (e.g. babysitting volunteering) is a plus but not required.

• Skills:Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to connect with kids and work as part of a team.

• Certifications:CPR and First Aid certification preferred (training may be provided if needed).

• Physical Requirements:Ability to work outdoors participate in active play and lift up to 15 lbs. as needed.

• Background Check and Drug Screen:Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check .

• High energy and a playful positive attitude.

• Patience and adaptability when working with diverse personalities.

• Eagerness to learn and take direction from camp leaders.

• Passion for creating fun and memorable experiences for kids.
