WHO WE NEEDROMs Learning & Programs team is seeking compassionate patient and adaptable individuals to join our 1to1 Support Assistant team for ROM Summer ClubTorontos iconic summer day camp rooted in exploration creativity and inclusion. For over 80 years Summer Club has delivered experiential learning inspired by ROMs collections. As a 1to1 Support Assistant you will ensure that campers with disabilities and additional support needs are fully included in all aspects of the camp experience. HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT- Review the assigned campers profile and conduct a precamp caregiver phone call to build familiarity and trust.
- Prepare customized materials to support camper inclusion and engagement.
- Promote full participation in camp activities adapting games movement through the Museum and field trips as needed.
- Provide consistent support during breaks lunchtime and transitions.
- Ensure the campers daily care routines health support needs (including medications) and adaptive equipment use are safely managed.
- Act as a friendly and respectful point of contact for caregivers keeping them informed of their childs experience.
- Model inclusive behaviour support positive interactions and help foster meaningful connections between campers and their group.
- Work closely with instructors to integrate the campers needs into daily activities.
- Support other duties related to inclusive program delivery as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING- Minimum of one 1 year of experience working with children in educational or camp settings.
- Previous experience supporting children with disabilities (e.g. neurodivergent campers or those with ADHD ASD cerebral palsy muscular dystrophy or learning disabilities).
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team showing patience flexibility and empathy.
- Must be at least 16 years of age by the start of the contract.
- Strong assets include:
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Secondary education or coursework in museumrelated fields such as Art Archaeology Life Sciences Earth Sciences or History.
- Coaching or lifeguard certifications.
