BigD Construction has an opportunity for a Design Manager Mission Critical to join our team of construction professionals to work on the Salt Lake City UT.

The Design Manager will be skilled and experienced with overseeing teams on large scale and highly technical construction projects with specific responsibilities managing the critical elements of the design phase. This role ensures effective collaboration and successful outcomes for data center clients end users consultants trade partners and team members.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in construction management architecture engineering or a related field
  • Multiple years of experience in construction management and VDC management
  • Knowledge of data center systems
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and guidelines related to construction and design
  • Effective project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with crossfunctional teams and stakeholders including clients user groups design teams consultants trade partners and team members.
  • Proficient use of Revizto Revit Bluebeam and Microsoft Office programs

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned to meet business and project needs)

  • Develop and implement management plans schedules and procedures
  • Manage design phase and procurement phase timelines to ensure critical milestone achievements
  • Manage the VDC process
  • 3d and 4d modeling
  • Directs guides assists plans and supports the design team trade partners and internal team members
  • Provide quality control review of plans and specifications
  • Leads teams in such a way to maximize contributions and development of each team member
  • Exhibits strong commitment to customer service
  • Oversees and provides input regarding all issues that require risk management
  • Solutionoriented troubleshooting
  • Develops contingency plans to mitigate potential risks to projects
  • Lead teams in such a way to maximize the contributions of each team member
  • Understands prime contracts and subcontract agreements
  • Negotiates subcontract modifications with subcontractors to manage risk
  • Provide detailed contractual interpretations to team regarding prime contracts and subcontract agreements
  • Ability to recognize project issues and timely acquire/coordinate resources to support project team
  • Provides overall administration and technical direction
  • Coach monitor and enforce along with project team safety standards to maintain safe working environment for all employees and site visitors
  • Holds team members accountable during all aspects of the project
  • Ensures project team is performing all tasks efficiently and adjusts when necessary
  • Clearly concisely and timely documents all changes or deviations from the contract documents including notifying the Owner and design team of potential issues
  • Proficient in technical writing
  • Assist in developing prequalified subcontractor lists
  • Ensures prime and subcontractor contractual requirements are met prior to performing work
  • Responsible to provide technical and procedural construction direction to internal and external shareholders
  • Understand develop and maintain schedules
  • Proactively monitor the progress of the schedule
  • Work with project team to ensure schedule milestones are achieved
  • Proactively mitigate foreseen constraints and assist in implementing plans to maintain or recover schedules
  • Communicate unresolved constraints and impacts in a timely manner as well as plans to mitigate impacts
  • Manage job closeout process associated with asbuilt documentation
