Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and diverse team. As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will provide support and assistance to students with special educational needs ensuring they have equal access to education and promoting an inclusive learning environment. All our roles are Monday to Friday 8:30 3:30 term time only.
Responsibilities
- Provide oneonone or small group support to students with special educational needs helping them with their academic and personal development.
- Assist the class teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies for students with SEN.
- Support students with physical or learning disabilities to participate in all aspects of school life including classroom activities and school outings.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment promoting diversity and equality among all students.
- Collaborate with other staff members parents and external professionals to address the specific needs of students with SEN.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs preferably within an educational setting.
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies to support students with diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students parents and colleagues.
- A patient and empathetic nature with a genuine passion for advocating for the needs of students with SEN.
- Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support are desirable.
Daytoday
- Provide individualized support to students with SEN assisting them with their academic tasks and personal care when necessary.
- Implement behaviour management techniques to address challenging behaviours and create a supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with the class teacher to create and modify learning materials to cater to the diverse needs of students with SEN.
- Communicate with parents and caregivers to provide updates on the progress and wellbeing of students with special educational needs.
- Contribute to the overall inclusive and supportive ethos of the school promoting diversity equality and inclusion in all interactions and activities.
