Job Description

Great Basin College (GBC) is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 2 for the Health Sciences and Human Services Department. This position will provide administrative support to the program supervisors department chair and teaching and administrative faculty. This position will assist the department chair in the coordination of scheduling courses and programs input add change and cancel courses each semester in PeopleSoft maintain department and student records submit work orders maintain office supply inventory coordinate with other GBC departments and centers on projects for program outreach and other duties as correspondencewith multiple departments to assist in advertising and student advisement scheduling updating social media and program websites creating program flyers and updating/formatting internal documents.

This position will also provide support to the Dean of Health Sciences and Human Services and the Administrative Assistant 4.

PER EXECUTIVE ORDER

ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL JUNE 30 2025. Please refer to the link for more information: Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advancedlevel work and may provide work direction and training to others.

Required Qualifications

  • This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and two 2 years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR

  • One 1 year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above

A valid Class C Nevada drivers license or higher operators license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 25

In classified service salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment the candidates qualifications internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
