Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial operations within the manufacturing environment. This role involves cost accounting financial analysis budgeting inventory valuation purchasing and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate will work closely with the production team to manage and optimize costs while maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities

    • Cost Accounting & Financial Analysis:
    • Analyze and track manufacturing costs including raw materials labor and overhead.
    • Develop and maintain job costing and bill of materials/routings for manufacturing.
    • Prepare cost estimates for new and existing products to support pricing decisions.
    • Conduct margin analysis and provide recommendations for cost reduction.
    • Inventory & Fixed Assets Management:
    • Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation processes.
    • Monitor inventory movements including raw materials workinprogress (WIP) and finished goods.
    • Assist in inventory cycle counts and physical stock audits as needed.
    • Manage fixed assets depreciation schedules and capital expenditures for the manufacturing division.
    • Financial Reporting & Compliance:
    • Prepare and analyze monthly quarterly and annual financial statements related to manufacturing operations.
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP DFARS FAR ISO 9001 and company accounting policies.
    • Assist with external audits by providing necessary documentation.
    • Maintain accurate financial records for manufacturing costs and expenditures.
    • Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Support budgeting and forecasting processes for manufacturing operations.
    • Monitor actual vs. budget performance and identify costsaving opportunities.
    • Provide financial insights to management for strategic decisionmaking.
    • Process Improvement & Support:
    • Collaborate with production and business development teams to improve cost efficiency.
    • Implement financial controls and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Assist in ERP system and AI implementations or upgrades related to manufacturing finance.

Qualifications & Skills

    • Education: Bachelors degree in accounting Finance or a related field (CPA CMA preferred).
    • Experience: 3 years in accounting with experience in manufacturing or cost accounting preferred. Experience in government contracting a plus.
    • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (Costpoint SAP Oracle or similar) advanced Excel and financial reporting tools.
    • Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills attention to detail and problemsolving abilities.
    • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with cost accounting principles GAAP DFARS FAR and tax compliance related to manufacturing.
