Job Description

Job Summary: The Payroll Specialist is responsible for preparing processing and reviewing biweekly payroll for multiple employee groups across different provinces and states while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. This role oversees payroll activities such as tax filings benefit and pension remittances reconciliations and yearend reporting. Additionally the Payroll Specialist serves as a subject matter expert providing accurate payroll guidance and support to employees while continuously identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes.

Location: This is a hybrid work arrangement based out of our Home Office location in St. George Ontario and requires 3 days per week in office and 2 days per week working remotely.

Employment Type: This is a fulltime position with an anticipated start date as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing processing and reviewing biweekly payroll for various employee groups in a multiprovince/multicountry environment ensuring all applicable legislation is met
  • Coordinating and conducting biweekly endofmonth endofquarter and yearend payroll activities (e.g. ROE processing T4/RL1 W2s accruals summaries Workers Compensation annual returns EHT annual return yearend balancing etc.
  • Administering and balancing payrollrelated remittances to various agencies and vendors (e.g. tax filings benefit premiums pension contributions etc.
  • Lead the annual benefit renewal process
  • Tracking benefit and pension eligibility according to plan documents and related legislation
  • Ensuring accurate accounting treatment of payroll transactions as well as facilitating reconciliation of payrollrelated accounts with the Finance Department
  • Auditing registers and reports to ensure all payroll processing data is accurate
  • Serving as a payroll and benefits subject matter expert and keeping on top of process changes or enhancements that will improve payroll productivity
  • Responding to payroll and HRrelated staff inquiries in an approachable timely and servicecentered manner

Does this sound like you

  • University/college education in Business Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation and a minimum of four years experience with payroll administration in a multiprovince/multicountry environment of approximately 500 employees
  • Experience with benefit and pension plan administration and accounting
  • Proficiency in payroll and HRIS software as well as Microsoft Word Excel Outlook etc.
  • Experience using Payworks and BambooHR software would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of legislation related to human resources and/or payroll across multiple jurisdictions within Canada and the United States
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and adhere to strict deadlines
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and problemsolving skills
  • Strong organizational attention to detail and planning skills
  • Bilingual (English and French) an asset
  • Previous exposure to THCF or the camping industry an asset
