Nuclear Systems Engineer Wilmington North Carolina
DISHER is partnering with a nuclear fuel producer in Wilmington NC to fill their Nuclear Systems Engineer position. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working closely with other key stakeholders the Nuclear Systems Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design development and optimization of core (UF6 feed product withdrawal tails withdrawal blending sampling and supporting systems) systems for a commercialscale uranium enrichment facility. Responsibilities include identification and qualification of system requirements development of alternate system design concepts (where necessary) performance and evaluation of design trade studies selection and implementation of preferred designs and integration and of the designs with other systems and the overall facility.

What will you get to do:
Develop and maintain an indepth understanding of key technology and business drivers to drive system requirements specifications and flowdowns.
System requirements design and specifications including boundaries interfaces major equipment sizing support systems instrumentation layouts safety considerations licensing regulatory compliance testing commissioning and relevant codes and standards.
Perform process flow diagrams calculations piping and instrument diagrams equipment sizing logic diagrams FMEA PHA and other necessary activities to support system requirements and specifications.
Oversee system and component integration ensuring maximum safety performance and operability.
Manage interfaces with cascade and balance of plant systems.
Collaborate with technology development teams and system engineers to refine system requirements interfaces perform design and risk mitigation trade studies and manage system configurations.
Drive vendor identification and supply chain development for major system equipment and components.
Manage system and component requirements definition and maintain configuration control.
Drive validation and verification activities for all core systems including systemlevel testing.
Participate as a subject matter expert in process hazards and integrated safety analysis teams supporting licensing activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What will make you successful:
Active DOE/NRC Qclearance or equivalent DOD Top Secret or ability to obtain and maintain a DOE/NRC Qclearance.
Bachelors Degree in mechanical engineering nuclear engineering or a related discipline from an accredited university or college
Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering role
Minimum 2 years of experience working with similar/relevant mechanical chemical or nuclear systems
Understanding of and/or experience in the nuclear fuel cycle industry and technology especially uranium enrichment and the processing handling and storage of UF6
Experience with the engineering procurement construction commissioning and/or operation of nuclear or chemical processing facilities
Familiarity with nuclear fuel cycle facility licensing and regulations (US NRC)
Working knowledge of applicable quality standards and systems (e.g. NQA1 ISO 9000
Proven interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to think strategically
Ability to navigate and lead others through ambiguity or uncertainty
Ability to set and maintain high standards of performance and accountability
