Hispanic Federation (HF) is the nations premier Latino nonprofit membership organization. Founded in 1990 HF supports Latino families and strengthens Latino institutions through grantmaking capacity building assistance to Latino nonprofits advocacy disaster relief and direct services. It serves 133 member organizations and a national network of 700 Latino nonprofits in 42 states Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.
Position
Hispanic Federation seeks a dynamic and strategic Press Associate to join the communications team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supporting nonprofit organizations; exceptional writing skills in English and Spanish; and a passion for promoting community programs policy and advocacy projects. The Press Associate is responsible for researching and preparing talking points drafting media releases and developing timelines for media campaigns to enhance HFs visibility and impact. The press associate will also gain exposure to the full lifecycle of communications including pitching event management and strategy development and implementation.
A successful candidate is passionate about communications and has experience producing compelling written content under a unified voice and brand. The Press Associate will work under the supervision and direction of the Vice President for Communications Strategy.
This position is a hybrid position and will require 50 onsite presence to the HF office in Washington D.C.

Responsibilities
Draft review and edit all public facing materials such as press releases media advisories statements press pitches and quotes in Spanish and English.
Assist in editing and proofing newsletters and written content for websites.
Edit communications with an emphasis on copyediting for tone consistency and adherence to the AP Style guide.
Support the drafting editing and proofing of spoken remarks opeds presentations and printed materials.
Research reporters that Hispanic Federation can reach out to in each location where Hispanic Federation maintains an office and support press pitching as necessary.
Support statelevel communications to ensure a unified voice by providing drafts or copyedits for all media facing materials.
Provide relevant research secure impact data and provide quotes in collaboration with program staff for externalfacing communications.
Draft talking points memos as assigned for use in different press engagements on the local state and national levels.
Draft interview prep materials such as talking points memos and interview briefs that include background on reporters for review and approval.
Qualifications
A bachelors degree with an emphasis on written communication or research and at least three 3 years of communications experience required.
Communications experience with a fast paced multisector nonprofit or federal/state government is highly desired.
Excellent writing editing and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English Spanish language fluency is required.
Experience developing drafts for press releases media advisories statements and pitch notes quickly to respond to breaking news or key developments.
Experience preparing talking points; drafting remarks; and prepping speakers for interviews spoken remarks and other appearances
Able to work collaboratively and effectively with experience working with a diverse set of partners and team members.
Selfstarter able to work independently and generate ideas for implementation.

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $60000 to $70000. Compensation comes with a robust benefits package with fully subsidized medical dental vision insurance 403(B) retirement plan eligible for a company match access to flexible spending and pretax commuter benefits. Fulltime regular employees are also provided with fifteen 15 vacation days four 4 personal days and paid sick time.
HF is a hybrid work environment with the opportunity to work from home 50 of the time.
