Position Summary
The Indiana University School of Education at IUPUI in Indianapolis is seeking an exemplary Visiting Lecturer to contribute to our progressive urban teacher education programs. The ideal candidate should have expertise with teaching in literacy teacher education with a focus on early childhood and/or elementary education; urban/multicultural education; a commitment to urban education and communities; and a readiness to partner with local schools to provide transformative teacher education. The School of Education at IUPUI is an urban serving institution located in the heart of Indianapolis. Our school of education has approximately 30 full time faculty all of whom are actively engaged in teaching scholarship of teaching and research focused on urban education. Many of our faculty have scholarship interests that focus on social justice and antiracist practices partnerships with urban communities and schools and critical perspectives in education. Faculty in our teacher education programs are committed to preparing teachers to enact transformative practices in urban schools fieldbased experiences that support our teacher candidates and diversifying the teacher workforce. Responsibilities: Design and implement literacy teacher education curriculum for early childhood and elementary education that grounds preservice teachers in deep understanding of critical social justice pedagogy human development and urban communities within strong fieldbased experiences. Collaborate with faculty in the urban teacher education programs to develop mutually beneficial partnerships with local schools. Lead or assist in ongoing program development innovation and evaluation. Engage in the scholarship of teaching. Provide service to department university community and professional organizations.
