Class Summary


Job Description
This class is responsible for overseeing the operations of the water reclamation facility. Incumbents supervise staff and assist with budget preparation.

Essential Duties
  • Supervises staff to include prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring termination and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Oversees the daytoday operations of one or more plants to include purchasing supplies and equipment assessing the need for change and dealing with process control issues.
  • Assists in preparing the budget for the section to include identifying operating needs maintaining records and tracking expenditures.
  • Develops and implements various projects and programs to include performing site inspections and preparing cost estimates.
  • Responds to inquiries from other departments outside agencies and the general public.
  • Compiles prepares and certifies accuracy of reports to departments and regulatory agencies.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job may require oncall rotation and emergency after hours weekends and/or holidays.

Grade
The grade for this position isC521.

Effective 4/11/2023 this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Business Management or a technical field
  • Seven 7 years of progressively responsible water treatment or waste water experience some of which must be in a supervisory capacity
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
  • Class I certification/license in water/wastewater
  • Level 1A Erosion and Sedimentation Control Certification (must be obtained within 1 year)

Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
  • Prioritizing and assigning work;
  • Overseeing technically complex facilities;
  • Using a computer and applicable software applications;
  • Inspecting and operating plant equipment;
  • Monitoring a budget;
  • Communication interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers supervisors the general public etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett they include the Sheriff Tax Commissioner District Attorney Solicitor Probate Court Judge and Chief Magistrate.
