Lutheran Services Carolinas is recruiting a Lead Senior Accountant for our Salisbury Administrative Office. This position will be responsible for general accounting duties for all LSC facilities. The Lead Senior Accountant will assist the Controller with his/her duties and will train and support other accountants with their responsibilities.
Specific skills/abilities: Attention to detail and follow through. Effective interpersonal communication skills and working relationships. Demonstrated proficiency in Excel other databases and other Microsoft Office products (Word PowerPoint Email).
Education: Minimum bachelors degree in accounting Finance Business or a related field or the equivalent of years of experience.
Experience: A minimum of seven years in accounting and1 year ofGAAP experience is preferred.Experience with general ledger and nonprofit accounting is preferred.
Position Purpose/Summary:
The Lead Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for general accounting duties for all LSC facilities. The Lead Senior Accountant will assist the Controller with his/her duties and will train and support other accountants with their responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
1. Responsible for accounting activities to include but not limited to preparation and posting of journal entries analyzing account reconciliations including bank accounts audit allocations to subsidiaries and programs processing of monthend and yearend closing tasks etc.
2. Review detailed schedules of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation maintained b staff.
3. Reconcile cash and investment accounts.
4. Support in generating and reviewing monthly financial statements.
5. Deliver projected annual depreciation for budgets.
6. Conduct annual analysis and reporting as requested by management as needed from year to year.
7. Generate audit schedules and rollforward reports.
8. Analyze and report data as requested by management.
9. Participate in facilitating successful internal and external audits.
10. Manage ad hoc financial reporting requests and special projects as requested including completion of industry surveys.
11. Assist with maintaining the integrity of the financial information systems and subledgers ensuring compliance with GAAP and company internal control policies and procedures and identifying areas for improvement and consistency of the financial systems.
12. Assist with implementing new systems that create process improvements including employing the latest technology.
13. Train staff accountants on all accounting activities including analysis and account reconciliation.
14. Recommend process improvements and create efficiencies in financial reporting and other accounting activities.
15. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Minimum Job Requirements):
