4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in business administration management science or public administration.
Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration management science or public administration; 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory administrative &/or managerial position.
Or completion of undergraduate core program in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file; 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory administrative &/or managerial position or staff position involving planning research &/or policy/procedure development.

Job Duties
In assigned region serve in a fiduciary capacity to plan direct coordinate & implement physical safety activities policies & procedures pertaining to the Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) Safety & Crisis Section & Training Program:
- Provide program direction & respond to programmatic issues &/or needs; Plan write & implement goals & objectives for assigned region;
- Serve as the face of the OSSC Safety & Crisis Section & Training program for physical safety initiatives by facilitating information sharing leading &/or monitoring training groups & transmitting decisions &/or directives;
- Work with the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce (ODEW) 16 State Support Teams regional liaisons & school resource officers to deliver comprehensive school safety services to schools;
- Develop curriculum & provide instruction & training on topics identified within RC 5502.702 & 5502.703 to include tactical live firearms training that individuals may complete in order to satisfy the criterion specified in ORC 2923.122 (D)1 (d)(i);
- Operate state training equipment & training aids in order to provide school safety training to school staff & first responders;
- Assist with entering into agreements to secure training staff & experts facilities range time &/or other items necessary to conduct periodic training;
- Provide services regarding school & campus safety & security to public & nonpublic primary & secondary schools; Assist administrators with any other security protocols for activities or events outside of a school building during or after school hours; Conduct security & vulnerability assessments using crime prevention through environmental design tools;
- Assist in strategic communications between federal state & local law enforcement agencies schools or an institution of higher education within the officers region;
- Formulate & implement school safety policies & programs at the regional level; Analyze & evaluate procedures policies &/or best practices for regional programs; Provide technical advice &/or recommendations to aid administrators in decision making; Implement statewide best practices in various school safety topics as developed by regional administrator;
- Operate state vehicle in order to conduct site visits with schools & first responders;
- Oversee training operations & offer training opportunities for school employees which may include observing emergency management plan tests providing weapons manipulation instruction & other appropriate activities;
- Offer tactical emergency medical services training to public & nonpublic schools within the officers region; Assist administrators within the officers region with the development or review of an emergency management plan;
- Partner with regional liaisons to provide comprehensive school safety services to schools that includes both physical & emotional safety;
- Promote the use of the Safer Ohio School Tip Line within the officers region/zone;
- Foster strategic partnerships set by the OSSC & conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to share information & updates;
- Collect contact information for locally based resources for regional & statewide contact directory;
- Provide information for the annual school safety report specific to schools & first responders in assigned region;
- Assist with the development & implementation of the annual statewide summit;
- Attend & participate in meetings;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
* This position is remote but will require travel to & from schools several days per week by state assigned vehicle.
* Position is identified as safety sensitive & subject to random drug & alcohol testing in accordance with DPS 501.24.
* Must complete annual training to retain and build skills as a firearms operator and instructor in accordance with OSSC policy.
* Position is unclassified pursuant to ORC 124.11(A)9 and serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

Ohio School Safety Center
The Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) is a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety who supports all Ohio schools and first responders in preventing preparing for and responding to threats and acts of violence including selfharm through a holistic solutionsbased approach to improving school safety. Using a crossdisciplinary approach the OSSC will provide resources to schools to enhance their strategies for safety and emergency plan development.
Our goal is total commitment in supporting all schools in ensuring the safety of students employees and visitors through effective policies and procedures training and community and interagency involvement. The OSSC assists public and private PreK K12 and Higher Education institutions.
