Nursing education at Simmons dates back to 1933. At that time Simmons implemented a fiveyear baccalaureate program in nursing and became a charter member of the National League for Nursing. Simmons continues its proud tradition of educating nurses. Today Simmons Department of Nursing offers a traditional 4 year BSN program a 16month accelerated BSN program for students with a prior baccalaureate degree a 2year Dix scholars program for adult learners an online RN to BSN program and a 4 1 BSNMSN FNP program.

Job Summary: The Undergraduate Nursing Program at Simmons University is seeking applicants for a full time Bostonbased 10month faculty position to begin in Fall 2022. As a missiondriven institution we invite applications from candidates who share our passion and commitment to empowering women to thrive in their careers. Depending on the candidates experience and professional goals we offer several different possibilities for faculty rank and track including tenure track teaching track and practice track.

Primary Responsibilities

The faculty member will have the opportunity to teach courses in the undergraduate nursing program. Potential courses include but are not limited to NURS332 Medical Surgical Nursing I and NURS346 Medical Surgical Nursing II. The faculty member is expected to advise and mentor undergraduate nursing students participate in curriculum development and actively engage in service to the Simmons community. For tenuretrack appointments faculty will be required to conduct and publish scholarly research that involves the advancement of nursing practice and the profession of nursing.

Qualifications

Simmons Undergraduate Nursing program is seeking candidates with a demonstrated commitment to clinical and academic excellence. While a doctoral degree in nursing is preferred applicants with an MS in Nursing and at least 5 years of relevant experience will also be considered for a practicetrack appointment. A terminal degree in Nursing from an accredited program and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience is required for teaching track and tenuretrack consideration. Additionally an active stream of relevant research and publications is preferable for tenuretrack candidates. Previous teaching at the college level is preferable though applicants seeking to begin a career in higher education should also consider this opportunity. Applicants are required to hold and maintain a current unencumbered Registered Nurse License in Massachusetts.
