Key Responsibilities:
MonthEnd & Financial Management:
Lead monthend and yearend close processes ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Prepare and analyze financial statements budgets and forecasts to support strategic decisionmaking.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and maintain financial integrity.
Ensure compliance with GAAP IRS regulations 990 filings) and other nonprofit financial reporting standards.
Manage and coordinate audits including preparation of required documentation.
Grant Funding & Compliance:
Oversee grant accounting and reporting ensuring compliance with federal (OMB Uniform Guidance) state and private funding requirements.
Track and monitor restricted and unrestricted funds ensuring proper allocation and spending.
Prepare and submit grant financial reports to funders in accordance with deadlines.
Work closely with program managers to ensure grant budgets align with programmatic needs.
Develop and maintain grantrelated financial policies and procedures ensuring transparency and accountability.
Assist in grant proposal development by providing financial data budgets and forecasts to support funding requests.
Conduct grant compliance reviews to mitigate financial risks and maintain adherence to funding agreements.
Team Leadership & Strategy:
Supervise and support the finance team in accounts payable accounts receivable and payroll processing.
Collaborate with leadership to develop financial strategies that optimize grant funding and organizational sustainability.
Provide training and guidance to staff on grant compliance and financial best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
5 years of nonprofit finance experience with a strong focus on grant accounting and compliance.
Deep understanding of fund accounting GAAP and OMB Uniform Guidance.
Experience managing multiple grant sources including federal state and private funding.
Proficiency in financial software (e.g. QuickBooks Sage Intacct or similar).
Strong analytical skills attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
