Job Title: Corporate Controller
Location: Lakeland Florida
Schedule: 10-hour workdays Full-Time On-site
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Corporate Controller to lead our accounting operations and drive financial excellence across the organization. This position plays a critical leadership role overseeing financial reporting internal controls and compliance while also serving as a trusted advisor to the CFO and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will bring deep accounting expertise strong operational leadership and a forward-thinking approach to scaling finance in a growing company.
Key Responsibilities: Accounting Operations & Financial Oversight:Lead mentor and grow the accounting team to meet increasing organizational complexity.
Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable accounts receivable payroll and general ledger management.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
Direct the preparation and analysis of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements.
Manage internal and external reporting including compliance with lender and regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain a GAAP-compliant accounting infrastructure that supports business usability.
Serve as a technical accounting expert to the CFO and executive team offering guidance on complex issues.
Monitor regulatory and accounting standard changes ensuring compliance and timely implementation.
Design and implement internal control frameworks that safeguard financial accuracy and organizational assets.
Regularly evaluate and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure audit readiness.
Collaborate with finance operations and sales teams to ensure alignment on monthly close forecasting and budgetary outcomes.
Support the CFO with strategic initiatives including financial planning cost control and risk management.
Manage relationships with auditors banks tax advisors and other external partners.
Oversee tax compliance and coordinate with external firms on corporate tax matters.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Required
MBA or Masters degree in Accounting or Finance Preferred
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance ideally within mid to large-sized organizations.
Strong operational experience across general ledger payroll AP/AR and financial reporting.
Experience with GL and payroll system implementations - Sage Intacct and ADP strongly preferred.
Industry experience in cold storage distribution or logistics is a plus but not required.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams influence without authority and collaborate across departments.
Proven success as a strategic business partner with a proactive solutions-oriented approach.
Strong technical accounting acumen and attention to detail.
Passion for continuous improvement and systems optimization.
High integrity and ownership over financial accuracy.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced hands-on and dynamic work environment.
Willingness to work on-site and engage with operations including routine walkthroughs of cold storage facilities.
Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods (up to 10 hours/day).
Ability to walk through cold storage environments and participate in operational discussions as needed.
