Job Description
Ford Motor Companys High Performance Computing environment provides Fords global user base with industry leading capabilities to run complex resourceintensive computational tasks including CAE analysis ADAS simulations graphics rendering machine learning model training and analytics. Ford Motor Company is seeking an expert Linux systems engineer to join their High Performance Computing team.
The selected candidate will be a member of the team responsible for the engineering and management of all storage and interconnect infrastructure in a largescale multidatacenter environment including parallel filesystems lowlatency networking and related infrastructure systems. This includes developing solutions that enable our internal customers to be successful and working with the team to ensure the environment runs optimally.
This is a hybrid position requiring at least 13 days on site per week.
Responsibilities
- Actively design implement and support HPC storage networking and related infrastructure
- Assist application teams with optimizing workflows for the environment
- Develop and support automations and scripts (Python bash Ansible)
- Monitor and troubleshoot system failures (occasional oncall)
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Associate degree with a minimum of 6 years of equivalent work experience or a combination of education and work experience
- 5 years of Linux administration experience
- 2 years of storage engineering experience
- Strong storage and server infrastructure knowledge
- Strong architectural and engineering experience with enterprise Linux environments
- Strong scripting experience with Python and Bash and willingness to learn other languages.
- Performs at an extremely high level of technical competence and maturity
- Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to utilize desktop tools to accelerate communications (Wikis IM MS Teams etc.
- Seeks out improvements to processes and business offerings
- Ability to create detailed technical documentation
- Ability to handle multiple complex projects at one time
Nice to have
- Experience using parallel filesystems (GPFS Lustre Weka etc.
- Exposure to HPC interconnect technologies like InfiniBand or MPI
- Familiarity with batch workload managers
