Job Description
AHWFB Department of Medicine Section on Hospital Medicine is seeking an Academic Nocturnist with training in Internal Medicine to join our dynamic inpatient team at Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem North Carolina and Davie Medical Center in Bermuda Run North Carolina.

Work in a Supportive & Collaborative Environment: As a Hospitalist within the Wake Forest Baptist Health system youll be an integral part of a dedicated healthcare team collaborating with physicians nurses case managers specialists and clinical pharmacists to ensure safe and effective patient care during hospital stays. Your role involves admitting patients closely monitoring patient progress and making necessary treatment adjustments and engaging in meaningful discussions with patients and their families about their care. Additionally youll facilitate seamless communication with the patients primary care team and provide essential medical records to support their ongoing treatment.
Position Information:
- Fulltime nontenured faculty position
- Cover night shifts at NC Baptist Medical Center 75 which is the Flagship Hospital of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist System in Winston Salem North Carolina
- Primarily admitting responsibilities
- Perform perioperative management and preop risk assessments for orthopedic/surgical patients
- Supervision and education of Internal Medicine residents at night
- No ward crosscover
- Strong support from medical and surgical specialties
- Closed ICU
- Cover night shifts at Davie Medical Center 25 which is a 50 bed community hospital with 36 medicine beds in Bermuda Run North Carolina
- Admitting and consultation responsibilities
- Crosscoverage of all ward patients including but not limited to assessing patients and developing appropriate plans as needed for any acute events of changes in patient status and good communication with nursing
- Determine patients that require transfer to tertiary hospital and facilitating such transfer
- No ICU
- Respond to Rapid Responses and CODES for your patients
- Coordinating with Nursing Staff and responding to questions/concerns overnight
- Provide appropriate handoff/signout at the conclusion of their shift to the day team
- Procedural skills not required
- EPIC electronic medical records
- Uphold AHWFB missions values and cultural commitment
Position Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited medical school and ACGMEaccepted Internal Medicine residency program.
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
- Active license to practice as physician from NC Med Board.
- ACLS certification.
