Job Description

35 years experience in safety improvement or healthcare required and patient safety preferred.

Strong program management skills data knowledge and strong engagement and communication skills.

The Patient Safety Consultant leads efforts to advance patient safety culture and improvement within the Clinically Integrated Network. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with AHRQ Component PSO requirements and successful implementation of harm prevention practices. This includes management and utilization of detection systems to identify safety risks causes analysis investigation and support for operational process that advance safety culture and improvement. This position provides leadership and support for the reduction of events in the primary care space.

Essential Job Functions:

Ensures compliance with AHRQs requirements for a listed component Patient Safety Organization (PSO). Oversight of PSWP collection aggregation and analysis with guidance from Pediatric Safety Alliance (PSA) leadership; ensures confidentiality and protection of PSA work product. Utilizes information from detection systems to identify potential hazards in operational and clinical care processes and discerns level of urgency and risk prioritization. Conducts investigations into reported safety events and assures completion of improvements. Leads harm prevention improvement projects and initiatives to advance best practices. Facilitates engagement and support for operational process owners responsible for associated improvement efforts; offers technical assistance to network providers engaging in improvement. Leads effort to advance utilization of safety and error prevention methods. Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Bachelors Degree required. Masters degree preferred. Experience leading improvement required. Education or Certification in patient safety improvement preferred. 35 years experience in safety improvement or healthcare required. Experience in the use of standard business software required; advanced skills in spreadsheets database and data presentation software preferred. Experience in navigating information in clinical and operational information system preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication required. Understanding of confidentiality compliance and regulatory requirements related to patient safety.

Pay Range

$76960.00$125840.00 Hourly

At Lurie Childrens we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity reflecting individual contributions experience and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
