We are currently looking for an enthusiastic selfmotivated Research Technician I or II to work in the lab of Dr. Sean Morrison at the Childrens Medical Center Research Institute (CRI) at UT Southwestern in Dallas Texas. The Morrison labs goal is to better understand the mechanisms that regulate stem cell function and how cancer cells hijack these mechanisms to enable tumor formation. What You Will Do:
Performs advanced mousebased experimental techniques including intravenous injections survival surgeries and oral gavage for several different projects related to melanoma metastasis.
Independently performs data collection and analysis.
Performs flow cytometry procedures including cell sorting and analysis.
Performs basic bench procedures such as western blotting PCR and DNA extraction.
Takes charge of managing and inventorying cell lines and tumor stocks.
What You Bring:
A bachelors degree in biology or related area of science is required.
Must be comfortable handling live mice and euthanizing mice for data collection.
Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to follow instructions with an eagerness to learn grow professionally and be
mentored.
Ability to interact positively with all levels of staff.
Ability to work efficiently and be adaptable to changing priorities.
Previous handson laboratory experience is required. Significant laboratory experience obtained during undergraduate studies is acceptable and will be considered.
Previous handson experience with molecular biology techniques (PCR gel electrophoresis etc. is required.
Compensation:
Research Technician I $16.73 (minimum) $20.94 (midpoint) $27.21 (maximum)
Research Technician II $41600 (minimum) $52037 (midpoint) $67600 (maximum)
A candidate at the level of Research Technician I will have a minimum of a bachelors degree and a minimum of 02 years of relevant research experience in a laboratory environment.
A candidate at the level of Research Technician II will have a minimum of a bachelors degree and a minimum of 2 or more years of relevant research experience in a laboratory environment.
Physical Requirements
Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet). Work may involve possible exposure to malodorous vapors low dose radiation contamination by toxic chemicals and acids and presence of carcinogenic substances or other hazardous materials.
